Chapter 1320 Is She More Important, or Am I More Important?

"You finally begged me."

David checked out her submissive vibe, feeling all smug. "But don't you think your begging game is kinda weak? How about you strip down and wait for me in bed?"

He leaned in close, whispering in her ear, "Or maybe we can get started right now. If you make me happy, I might put in a good word with your mom."

Cassie looked up, his sleazy face making her want to puke.

A moment later, she yanked her hand back. "You think you're good enough to sleep with me? Look at you, you're gross and ancient."

"Cassie, you're asking for it." David's smirk vanished. "Do you even know what happens when you piss me off? You can't count on Declan. Even though he's tight with Mr. Jude, his buddies never make it into Madison 'cause Ralph's got my back. And Mr. Jude won't cross Ralph either. If you think Laura and Declan can save you, you're dreaming. Right now, you're on your own."

He moved closer, grinning like a creep, "And don't think you can skip town with your family. One word to Ralph, and your paperwork's stuck. A month delay is nothing, and who knows what could happen in that time?"

Cassie started shaking.

This guy was like a demon—no, worse than a demon.

"I'll wait for your call. My number's the same for you." David chuckled and walked off.

Cassie glared at his back, wishing she could run him over with a car.

Good thing she wasn't driving.

But after leaving the Hernandez Group, she felt like crap.

She was so done, wishing she could just disappear. But what about her kids and Aiden?

She wandered down the street, lost.

Not far away, a Bentley rolled up.

Marigold was in the car, looking out the window, and spotted the downcast Cassie.

She glanced at Joseph, who was glued to his phone, and gave the driver a sneaky signal.

The driver swerved, splashing water from a puddle all over Cassie's pants and clothes.

The car screeched to a halt.

Joseph looked up, and Marigold, with a sweet smile, said, "The driver was going too fast and splashed someone. I'll go apologize."

Seeing Cassie soaked, Joseph's eyes went cold.

"Can you even drive?!" Cassie, fuming, looked up to see Marigold stepping out, wrapped in a trench coat.

"Oh, isn't this Ms. Brooks? My bad." Marigold said, pretending to be grossed out as she covered her nose. "It smells awful."

Cassie shot back, "Ugh, I always run into the worst people."

"Enough. It's just a little water." Marigold said, rolling her eyes. "I'm apologizing to be nice. Honestly, you deserved it for standing so close to the puddle."

Marigold's face twisted, and she turned to the car, pouting at the guy inside, "Joseph, did you hear that? Her tone is so rude. She better apologize to me today."

The car was quiet for a moment before a tall, handsome figure stepped out.

Cassie looked up at Joseph standing next to Marigold. He was wearing a dark blue shirt she had bought for him a few days ago. She thought it looked great on him, showing off his mature charm. Now, Marigold was clinging to his arm.

Cassie found it ironic, even if he was just putting on a show.

"Do you think I need to apologize to her?" She knew she shouldn't ask, but she did anyway.

Joseph looked down at her with deep, unreadable eyes, but he hesitated to speak.

"Say something!" Marigold shook his arm, "Joseph, don't forget. You're chasing me now. You can't still be hung up on Cassie, can you?"

"You're overthinking it," Joseph said calmly.

"Then make her apologize to me. Why does she get to yell at me? She's just jealous you're with me." Marigold snorted, "If you don't make her apologize, it means you haven't let her go."

A flash of disgust crossed Cassie's eyes. "Enough! Stop pushing him. I'll apologize. I'm sorry for yelling at you."

She turned and walked away.

Marigold stomped her foot in anger, "Stop right there and apologize properly."

Cassie ignored her, and her indifferent attitude made Marigold even angrier. "Joseph, why aren't you saying anything? Who's more important, her or me?"

Joseph raised an indifferent eyebrow, "What do you want me to say? You had the driver splash water on her just to show off and make me humiliate her? Sorry, I can't do that if you want me to play the role of a jerk."

His deep, inscrutable eyes seemed to see through everything. Marigold felt a bit frustrated, "In the end, you just can't bear to hurt her."

"I can't help it if that's what you think."

Joseph said indifferently and turned to leave.

Marigold was furious. She wanted to let him go, but seeing his aloof attitude and handsome back, she couldn't help but grab his arm. "Alright, I admit I went too far just now, but I was just jealous."

"Don't be jealous." Joseph gently pinched her chin.

This man was like poison. Even knowing he was poison, she couldn't help but get close.

Unseen by her, indifference flickered deep in Joseph's eyes.

Later that night, after dropping Marigold off.

Nathaniel drove over, and Joseph got in.

Nathaniel spoke in a low voice, "Kathleen sent word. She's been keeping an eye on the execs close to David. She found that one of them has been hitting up a club in Silverwood a lot lately. He even went there this afternoon, bringing someone who looks like the Foster family's doctor."

"A club?" Joseph raised an eyebrow, "And with a doctor."

"Yeah." Nathaniel nodded, "David had Everett's fingers cut off, so his injuries must be acting up. It's normal to call a doctor for treatment."
