Chapter 1205 She's Pregnant and Married

"Hope everything goes as planned," Laura sighed.

"Laura, with someone like Benjamin, tears work better than logic. That's why you lost to Isla and still haven't won," Cassie said.

Laura felt frustrated, struggling to accept it.

All her hard work over the years couldn't compare to a few tears.

Soon, Benjamin appeared in her sight.

He looked rough—thinner, baggy shirt, no longer the handsome, refined guy she remembered.

She sighed inwardly but drove over, rolled down the window, and said, "Get in, let's talk."

Benjamin got in and noticed her purple dress. He hadn't paid much attention before, but now he saw her clothes were looser. She must be pregnant.

Even sitting there, he could see her slightly protruding belly.

Benjamin felt a mix of emotions, even a dull pain.

Locked up, all he could think was that she was pregnant and married.

He once thought Laura would be his wife, but now she belonged to someone else.

"Mrs. Jude, you're married now, and you still come to see me. Does Mr. Jude know?" Benjamin said mockingly, "I don't want trouble from the Jude family again; I can't afford it."

Laura almost lost her temper at his tone.

Benjamin had been in prison for a month and still hadn't realized his mistakes.

But remembering Cassie's advice, she took a deep breath and forced her eyes to well up. "Fine, it's all my fault, okay? I'm the one who made you smear the future president, conspire with his opponent, and release the video to try to smear the Jude family, alright?"

Benjamin was speechless. He opened his mouth but froze seeing her red eyes.

"Benjamin, why do we always argue?" Laura pinched her leg hard, and tears fell. "Do you know how badly I was scolded when you released the video? I was almost a sinner in the Jude family. Do you know what would have happened if you had succeeded in bringing them down? We've been together for years, and you never considered me. Did you ever really love me?"

Seeing her tears, Benjamin's throat tightened. "What about you? Did you love me? If you did, why did you pressure the Hayes Group? You knew how much I cared about it."

"Because I couldn't stand Isla. Why did you have to be with her? You could be with anyone else, but I didn't like her. If it weren't for her, we wouldn't have broken up," Laura shouted, her tear-filled eyes making Benjamin's heart clench.

"Laura, if you had feelings for me, why didn't you get back together when I asked? Things wouldn't have turned out this way," Benjamin said, looking pained. He regretted that relationship too.

He was indeed with Isla, but he knew it wasn't the same as with Laura.

He stayed with Isla because she had done so much for him, and he thought there was no chance with Laura anymore.

"Because I couldn't stand you always being so close to Isla. You spent more time with her than with me. I felt like you didn't love me," Laura admitted, lowering her head. "If she were your sister, I wouldn't have said anything, but she wasn't. In a relationship, I can only accommodate two people. Later, I stayed in Whisperlyn City to forget you and start over, but then I met Nathan."

Benjamin shuddered at the name Nathan.

Four years ago, rumors spread that Nathan had raped her, and there were even photos of her being taken to the hospital. Nathan claimed she had seduced him.

"Nathan pursued me, but how could I agree to someone like him? After multiple rejections, he got angry, broke into my house with others, and beat me up, assaulting me."

"Laura," Benjamin clenched his fists.

"Luckily, someone saved me in time, but I was seriously injured and sent to the hospital. I reported it to the police, but Nathan was powerful and wealthy, and he slandered me instead. I had no power or influence back then. Even though I was the victim, I was scolded wherever I went. So I had to go abroad to escape. When I first went abroad, I wasn't doing well. I often thought of you, wondering if you would send me a message or call me, but there was nothing. I even fantasized that if you came to me when I was most helpless, I would be with you again no matter what because I believed that while others might not understand me, you definitely wouldn't believe those rumors."

Laura smiled bitterly. She was telling the truth. She had fantasized about it, but he never showed up.

Benjamin's face turned red with embarrassment.

He hadn't believed the rumors at first, but then Isla said she heard from the Silverwood circle that it seemed true, and the Miller family wanted to climb up to the Zenith family to develop in Whisperlyn City.

Because Isla said it, he believed it. He was disappointed and sad at the time.

He even accidentally slept with Isla once when he was drunk.

"Later, I didn't expect to run into you and Isla at the airport right after I returned to Silverwood, and you both mocked me," Laura said, her eyes red.

"Laura, I'm sorry," Benjamin said painfully.

Laura was stunned; he had never apologized before.

Cassie was right; a few tears were more effective than a bunch of reasoning.

If Laura hadn't cried, Benjamin would never have believed her.

When she cried, he believed.
