Chapter 1354 Women Are Really Too Easily Satisfied

After a long, awkward silence, Luke, the family head, finally broke it, "We'll deal with this later. Whether you get a divorce or not depends on how you act."

"Dad," Laura whined, pouting.

Michael had owned up to his mistakes, bought the mall, and even kneeled to apologize, which was a bit of a shocker. But Laura still couldn't shake off how pissed she was at him before.

Rose sighed, "If you split now, he'll totally ditch the kid. You'll be up all night breastfeeding while he snoozes away at home. You cool with that?"

Laura stayed quiet, thinking, 'Hell no.'

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Everyone turned to see Joseph standing there with a grin.

"Joseph, what are you doing here?" Michael was so startled he tried to stand up fast, but his knee gave out, and he fell back down awkwardly.

Joseph glanced at him, then looked at Cassie, "I'm here to pick you up." His intense stare made Cassie blush.

Rose quickly smiled, "Cassie, you should head back. I'll handle things tonight."

She paused, glancing at Michael, "Michael said he'd take care of the baby and Laura tonight, so he should get a shot to prove himself."

"Rose is right. Go with Joseph," Michael quickly waved his hand.

"Alright," Cassie smiled. After saying goodbye to Laura, she got ready to leave with Joseph.

"Wait," Joseph pulled a gift out of his pocket and placed it next to the baby.

Michael eyed the gift and said, "This looks pricey! You're really generous."

Joseph replied, "Cassie's good friend had a baby, so the gift should be valuable."

Michael went silent, thinking, 'Joseph's saying the gift isn't expensive because of me.'

"Pfft." Laura couldn't help but laugh at Michael's defeated look.

Seeing Laura laugh, Michael felt a wave of relief and thought, 'Thank goodness, Laura finally laughed. If I'd known, I'd have let Joseph roast me a few more times.'

"Let's roll," Joseph put his arm around Cassie's shoulder, and they left together.

In the quiet hallway, Cassie asked, "Why'd you come? Where are Sophia and Oliver?"

"They're asleep," Joseph said, "Don't worry, they're out cold and won't wake up. Lucas told me you were here, so I came over."

"Why'd you come to get me if you knew I was here?" Cassie said, a bit annoyed.

Joseph's eyes softened as he gently touched her hair, "Since you gave Michael advice, it means you don't want them to split. If that's the case, why are you there? You should give Michael a chance to prove himself."

Cassie thought about it and agreed. She had planned to leave after the Miller family showed up anyway.

After getting in the car, she suddenly smelled something delicious.

"I figured you'd be hungry, so I grabbed you a pizza on the way," Joseph took the food from the back seat and handed it to her.

Cassie hadn't felt hungry before, but now the aroma made her stomach growl. Joseph's gesture made her feel a bit warm inside. She thought, 'Sometimes, women are really easy to please.'

"But eating this late, won't it mess with my figure?" Cassie pouted, touching her stomach.

Joseph leaned in and kissed her, "Even if you get a little chubby, I'll still dig you."

"Yeah, right. You guys always say sweet stuff," Cassie was pleased but still gave him a playful glare.

"If I cared about your figure, I wouldn't buy you this stuff," Joseph looked all innocent, "Besides, you gave me two kids. That deserves my lifelong kindness."

"Why'd you bring this up now?" Cassie was surprised; he never mentioned it before.

"When I saw Laura after giving birth, she looked so pale and worn out. I thought, if she looks like this after one kid, how much harder it must've been for you with twins," Joseph held her hand tightly, his eyes full of heartache, "So, I gotta treat you even better from now on."

"It was pretty rough," Cassie nodded sadly, "And boy-girl twins are tough to deliver. I had to have a C-section, and my stomach hurt for months. You were with Megan then."

"I'm sorry. I was such a jerk back then," Joseph gently hugged her, genuinely remorseful, "If I ever mess up again, just make me kneel, okay?"

"Hmph," Cassie pushed Joseph away and buried her head in the pizza. Bringing up the past sucked, but she wasn't one to hold grudges.

Joseph silently watched her, mentally kicking himself for his past mistakes. The more he knew, the more he wanted to cherish and protect her.

"Why are you staring at me? Drive," Cassie said.

"Alright, you rest for a bit," Joseph started the car.

There was still half a pizza left, and Cassie thought it would be a waste to toss it, so she fed it to Joseph. He drove while being fed pizza by her. After finishing the pizza, Cassie felt drowsy. She had only planned to take a short nap but ended up crashing hard. When she woke up, she found herself lying on a white bed with a crystal chandelier overhead. She sat up abruptly and looked around, realizing she was in a hotel.

"Cassie, you're awake," Joseph was sitting at the foot of the bed, taking off her shoes, "I saw you were asleep, so I didn't take you back to the Chapman family. I knew you wouldn't want to go back to the Hernandez House either, so I brought you to a hotel." Joseph's eyes were pure as he spoke.

But Cassie didn't buy it; she thought he had ulterior motives, "You could've woken me up when we got to the Chapman family."

"I couldn't bear to wake you when you were sleeping so soundly."

"I want to go back," Cassie huffed and sat up.

"Baby, do you know what time it is?" Joseph tapped his watch, "It's three in the morning. If you go back to the Chapman family, you won't sleep until four. You're super tired now. And I won't do anything to you; I gotta get up early to take the kids to preschool."

Cassie looked annoyed. It was late, and she was really tired.

"Sleep, you haven't even showered. How could I be attracted to you when you smell?" Joseph teased playfully.

"What do you mean? I don't smell! How dare you!" Cassie pouted and playfully punched his chest.
