Chapter 422

Walter's voice echoed with a frantic edge, his words stumbling over themselves as he tried to articulate his concerns. "Rosalind, about Joseph..." he began, but seemed to falter, unable to find the right words.

Cassie cut him off, her voice steady and understanding. "I've already spoken to Rosalind. His illness doesn't concern me," she assured him, aware of the worry that lay beneath his words.

Walter's voice grew more urgent as he relayed the recent events. "After Joseph saw the news, he took off alone. We've been unable to locate him since. He seemed greatly distressed; I fear he might be experiencing an episode. However, I suspect he's gone in search of Desmond."

Cassie's brows furrowed in confusion. "You mean he's looking for Mabel?"

"Yes," Walter confirmed, his voice strained. "After he saw the news in the office, I overheard him muttering something about Mabel being behind it all. He looked terrifying. Every encounter with Mabel seems to send him spiraling out of control," he explained, his words tumbling out in a rush. "I'm heading to find Desmond now."

"Send me the address. I'm on my way," Cassie responded, her voice filled with determination. She swiftly grabbed her car keys and hurried out the door.

...

Within the confines of a private estate, Mabel was taken aback by the surge of news regarding Joseph's mental health online. She promptly dialed Celeste's number. "Did you leak those photos?" she demanded.

"Sis, you think I did it?" Celeste's voice echoed with surprise.

"The only ones who had access to those photos were the Hernandez family. If it wasn't you, then who else..." Mabel's words trailed off as a sudden commotion erupted outside. She flung the door open to find her guards sprawled on the ground, and there stood Joseph, his face twisted into a menacing expression.

Before she could utter a word, Joseph roughly grabbed her. "Come with me," he commanded, dragging her towards the rooftop. Her phone slipped from her grasp, Celeste's anxious voice echoing from the device, but it went unanswered.

On the rooftop, Mabel, her appearance disheveled, was pulled to the edge. "Joseph, what are you doing...Ah..." she gasped, feeling herself being pushed towards the rooftop's edge.

"I warned you not to use my past illness against me," Joseph roared, his voice a blend of desperation and fury, as he pinned her down.

Mabel's face paled, her eyes wide with terror. "It wasn't me..." she managed to whisper.

Joseph's eyes were aflame with a dark, crimson rage. "You threatened me with this last time; who else could it be if not you? You've only ever had eyes for Liam, willing to do anything for him," he accused.

"Time and again, you sided with Liam, attempting to oust me from my position at Hernandez Corp. You never concealed your disdain for having me as a son. I let that slide, but spreading those photos was crossing the line," he continued, his voice filled with bitterness.

"I warned you, I'd make you pay," he growled, his words echoing ominously in the night air.

Growing up, he was Madison Hernandez's golden boy. Yet, he never felt the warmth and kinship of the Hernandez family. Now, after a long struggle, he had finally found a woman he cared about. All he wanted was to live a simple and ordinary life with her.

But his own flesh and blood had cruelly ripped open all his old wounds in the most brutal way. Online, it was a cacophony of harsh and hateful chatter. Everyone feared him, wanted him locked away. Cassie must be terrified too. She was already scared of him. The little happiness and warmth he had fizzled out like bubbles, gone in an instant.
