Chapter 1635 Complete Breakup

Michael opened the window, and the traffic cop was taken aback when he saw his bloodshot eyes. "Sorry, you can't park here. Please move your car quickly, or I'll have to give you a ticket."

Michael pressed his thin lips together and remained motionless, like a statue.

"Did you hear me?" The traffic cop grew impatient.

"Go ahead and give me a ticket," Michael said coldly.

Seeing his uncooperative attitude, the traffic cop directly issued a ticket. "Move your car soon, or I'll come back and give you another ticket."

Michael gripped the steering wheel and began to laugh quietly with his face resting on it.

"Must be crazy," the traffic cop muttered, then rode off on his police motorcycle.

Michael stayed in the same position for a while, motionless, as his eyes gradually turned sinister and terrifying.

Since those two could be together behind his back, they should bear the consequences of betraying him.

In the restaurant

Laura suddenly shivered.

"Cold?" Derek asked with concern. "Do you want me to get a jacket from the car?"

"No, I'm not cold," Laura shook her head. "This grilled fish is really good."

Derek smiled. "Let me cut the beef tenderloin for you."

Derek took the plate and cut the meat into small pieces, handing them to her.

Laura felt extremely comfortable eating the Western meal, especially with Derek's considerate and warm gestures, making her feel like a princess being pampered.

After dinner, as he held her while they walked out of the restaurant's revolving door, she lazily said, "It's all your fault, always taking me to such good places. If I get fat, it's on you."

"Is that so? Then next time I find a good place, I won't bring you. I'll go by myself."

"You wouldn't dare," Laura pinched his waist hard.

"I wouldn't dare," Derek kissed her on the lips. "Just kidding. You have a great figure; you're not fat at all. Besides, even if you were, I'd still like you."

"Good answer."

Just as Laura finished speaking, she suddenly saw a tall figure standing in front of her sports car under the dim streetlight, and her heart skipped a beat.

It looked like Michael.

As she was thinking this, Michael stepped out of the shadows, glaring at her and Derek with a mix of malice, anger, and contempt, like a volcano about to erupt.

Laura was stunned.

At that moment, she became flustered and at a loss.

Even though she knew she couldn't keep her relationship with Derek a secret forever, when the moment actually came, she realized she had overestimated her ability to handle the pressure.

Derek sensed her change and followed her gaze.

But the first thing he saw was a fist coming straight at him.

"Watch out," Laura screamed instinctively.

Derek immediately pushed her away, taking the punch himself.

"You bastards," Michael, like a raging lion, threw another punch.

Derek narrowed his eyes, grabbed Michael's fist, and coldly warned, "Watch your mouth."

"Am I wrong?" Michael shouted furiously. "When did you two start sneaking around behind my back? You're despicable. You're my cousin, and she's my ex-wife. You two are the closest people to me, and you both betrayed me."

"We didn't betray you. As you said, she's your ex-wife. You two are divorced and have no relationship."

Compared to Michael's agitation, Derek seemed very calm.

"Who knows if you two were together while we were still married?" Michael pointed at Laura and then at Derek. "No wonder one of you was eager to divorce me, and the other helped. You two were already involved, weren't you? You must think I'm a fool."

His shouting grew louder, attracting not only the restaurant's security but also passersby and even customers coming in and out of the restaurant.

Seeing more and more people gathering, Laura panicked and felt terrible. "Michael, stop talking nonsense. Derek and I were aboveboard back then."

"Aboveboard? Then who's hugging you now?" Michael pointed at her face and laughed coldly. "No wonder you were always secretly contacting Derek during our marriage. Laura, wasn't I enough for you? You had to go to Derek. How shameless can you be?"

"He's crazy. Get in the car," Derek said, opening the car door and pushing the tearful Laura inside.

"Can't face me after what you've done? Get out here," Michael shouted, trying to pull Laura out. "Laura, get out. You don't deserve to have my daughter. Give Maeve back to me. I will never let you two be her parents."

"Have you said enough?" Derek closed the door and punched Michael in the face. "Don't project your filth onto others. Laura and I only started dating this year."

"Who are you kidding? Do you think I'm an idiot?"

Michael, like a madman, lunged at Derek, and they started fighting. "Derek, you dare take my woman? I'll ruin you."

"You're crazy," Derek pushed Michael away, got into the driver's seat, and immediately locked the car.

"Open the door, open it now," Michael pounded on the glass and the car.

Derek ignored him, started the car, and drove away.

Michael's figure quickly disappeared in the rearview mirror.

Laura felt like she was trapped in a nightmare, filled with anger, grievance, and sadness, and she couldn't help but cry out loud.

Michael's behavior was terrifying and disgusting.

She didn't understand, really didn't.

She was the one betrayed in that marriage, but just because she found a new boyfriend, all those filthy accusations were thrown at her.

Calling her a slut.

Accusing her of cheating during the marriage.

It was as if she were a terrible woman.

Even the onlookers were pointing at her, as if she were a slut.

Laura couldn't help but think of how she was treated like a pariah after Nathan bullied her.

Now, it felt like she was back to that time.

The feeling of having nowhere to express her grievances was utterly despairing.

"Don't cry. It's my fault," Derek said, finding a place to park the car and gently holding her in his arms.

Laura buried her face in his chest and cried, "It's not your fault. It's mine for not seeing people clearly. I should never have married Michael."
