Chapter 33 Arthur's Uncle?

After speaking, he cradled Olivia in his arms and got into the car. As he left her behind once again, Cassie realized she was truly done with Arthur.

From now on, all she felt for Arthur was hatred and loathing.

Exhausted, Cassie walked straight to her car.

Alexander's voice called out from behind. "What happened today will definitely reach Robert and Helen. Don't even think about returning to the Brooks family; no one will welcome you."

Cassie slammed the car door shut and drove away.

She knew Alexander was right, but it didn't matter anymore. Her life was already a mess, and no one really cared about or loved her anyway.

At 6:30 PM, Joseph came home from work.

The room was dimly lit.

He turned on the light and saw Cassie curled up on the sofa, her hair disheveled, her eyes vacant. She was holding Dakota in her arms, her chin resting on Dakota's head, looking lifeless.

She had always been vibrant and bright in front of him, never like this, which made him feel a bit uncomfortable.

"Did your bid fail?" he asked, taking off his jacket and throwing it on the sofa. "It's no big deal. You're still young."

"Does being young mean I can be toyed with?" Cassie suddenly looked up, her eyes red with anger. "You people, sitting on your high horses, never consider other people's feelings."

Joseph was slightly annoyed, thinking she was taking out her bad mood on him. "With that attitude, you deserve to fail."

"Yes, I failed. My biggest failure was believing in you." Cassie clenched her fists in pain. Even though she knew he didn't love her, she was still his wife in name, yet he treated her like a joke behind her back.

"Don't be ungrateful," Joseph snapped, his anger flaring.

"From now on, stay out of my business." Cassie stood up with a cold smile. Dakota jumped off her, sensing the tension and helplessly scratching at her clothes.

Her icy demeanor not only angered Joseph but also disappointed him.

After seeing her work, he thought she had some talent, but there were many talented people in the world. He didn't expect one failure to reveal her true colors completely.

To be honest, he was very put off by people like her.

"Remember what you said. From now on, aside from taking care of Dakota, I don't want to interact with you. Don't even cook for me; the sight of it might make me sick." With that, Joseph scooped up Dakota with one hand, grabbed his jacket with the other, and stormed out.

In the empty room, Cassie's mind went blank until the sky outside was completely dark.

She then went out to a bar.

She asked the bartender for a few bottles of alcohol, opened one, and started drinking.

She never used to like drinking, but now she realized alcohol was a good thing; it made her feel less miserable.

Gradually, everything in front of her became more and more blurry.

She didn't notice that, not far away, Anthony Howard was making a phone call. "Charlotte, guess who I just saw?"

"Who?"

"Cassie. She's drinking alone at the bar. She's still as beautiful as ever," Anthony said.

Charlotte's voice immediately became excited. "That bitch."

She hadn't forgotten the last time she was humiliated in front of everyone, becoming a laughingstock among the Silverwood socialites.

Today, she heard that Cassie embarrassed herself at the architecture institute. However, she thought that wasn't enough; she wanted to destroy Cassie completely.
