Chapter 505
Nina stood there, her face a mask of bewilderment. "Murder? I haven't the faintest idea what you're insinuating," she protested.
"Joyce is dead. It was under your command that Ben and Tony set her aflame. They've confessed to their actions," the officer retorted, his voice steady and unyielding.
"That's preposterous! Ben and Tony are under my employ, yes, but I would never issue such a command," Nina responded, her voice trembling with disbelief.
"Most culprits don't admit to their transgressions initially, but we have the evidence to back our claims," the officer declared, nudging her towards the exit.
William, Nina's father, rushed after them, his hands reaching out in a desperate attempt to halt the officers. "Impossible! My daughter is incapable of such heinous acts," he cried out.
The officer repelled him with a forceful shove. "Your daughter is not only a murderer, but her actions were evil. She'll be spending the rest of her days behind bars," he stated coldly.
William crumbled to the floor, his face turning a ghastly shade of purple from the shock.
"Nina!" her mother shrieked in horror, frantically dialing for an ambulance.
The Zenith family was in disarray. The tranquility they had enjoyed for the past few years was shattered in an instant, their world collapsing around them.
...
Lately, Cassie's left eyelid had been twitching incessantly. Logically, after uncovering evidence that Joyce was an imposter, Joseph should have been interrogating someone for more information. But he hadn't returned to the estate, and his phone remained unanswered. Nina was unreachable as well, adding to Cassie's growing unease.
Laura voiced her frustrations. "Damn it, I'm livid! That wretch Michael convinced the GM of Ocean Blue Group to fire me. What's his problem?"
"What happened? Weren't you under contract?" Cassie asked, taken aback.
"Yes, I had a five-year contract with them. We were even developing a new product line set to launch later this year. Without me, that project is likely to fail. Ocean Blue Group stands to lose a significant amount of money, but they chose to fire me regardless. They even want to blacklist me from the industry. I just... I can't understand why," Laura's voice wavered as she spoke.
Cassie was equally stunned. They were trying to ruin Laura. Did Michael harbor some grudge against her?
"Don't panic. I'll speak with Joseph and figure out what's going on," Cassie assured her hastily.
"Okay, but have you heard from Nina recently? I wanted to invite her for a drink, but I can't seem to reach her," Laura added, her voice tinged with disappointment.
"You can't contact her either?"
"No, I guess you're in the same boat. Damn, I hope nothing's happened to her," Laura's voice trembled with worry.
"Try reaching out to the Zenith family," Cassie suggested, his sense of foreboding intensifying.
Laura was being ostracized, and Nina was unreachable. The situation was growing more ominous by the minute.
