Chapter 1681 Marriage Alliance
"Give it a couple of days, I'll talk to Luke myself."
Luke is Elliott's father.
Yosef thought it was best for elders to handle such matters.
The news of Elliott's near-accident quickly reached Chairman Luke's ears.
After returning to the company, Luke quickly called Elliott over. "The factory needs a strict overhaul. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt this time. By the way, is your assistant okay?"
"She has a fracture," Elliott briefly explained the situation.
Luke fell into deep thought. "I didn't expect Isadora to be Yosef's daughter. Why didn't she join her family's investment company and instead come to work as an assistant at the Miller Group?"
"Not sure, maybe she wanted to gain some experience outside," Elliott said nonchalantly. "But Isadora has been quite diligent while working under me. She can endure hardships and handle criticism well. Her work performance is impeccable."
Luke knew Elliott's temperament. He didn't care about looks; if someone was incompetent, they were out.
Isadora had been working with him for quite some time, so her abilities must be commendable.
"She studied abroad, after all. If she couldn't handle this, it would have been a waste of education," Luke frowned. "Since she's the Penrose family's daughter, you should come with me to the hospital tomorrow to visit her."
That evening, Rose heard about Elliott's near-accident and insisted on visiting the next day. After all, Isadora had saved Elliott, and she felt the need to express her gratitude.
The next day, the family brought gifts to the hospital room.
As soon as Thalia saw Rose, she started to complain, "My daughter was in pain all night and couldn't sleep."
Rose glanced at Isadora on the hospital bed. She was in her early twenties, with a beautiful face that looked quite pale. Rose sighed, "I'm sorry. Rest assured, your daughter saved my son, and the Miller family will take full responsibility."
"My husband and I thought about it all night. Compensation isn't our concern; the Penrose family isn't short of money. But with my daughter's leg injured like this, which boy would accept her with scars on her legs? I asked the doctor, and even with laser surgery, the scars won't go away quickly."
Thalia sighed as she spoke.
Luke and Rose, being smart and experienced, quickly understood the Penrose family's intentions.
Thalia wanted Elliott to take responsibility for Isadora.
A man's responsibility to a woman usually meant marriage.
Luke remained silent, deep in thought.
Isadora, coming from a prestigious family, working diligently at the Miller Group, didn't seem like a pampered person.
Moreover, Isadora was beautiful, which was a plus.
The Penrose family, though not as prominent as the Hernandez or Nelson families, was still an old upper-class family in Whisperlyn City. Although their influence had waned in recent years, their connections and heritage remained.
If the two families could unite through marriage, the Miller family would have a smoother path in Whisperlyn City.
This marriage seemed well-matched, neither too high nor too low.
However, Luke remembered when he first came to Whisperlyn City and attended a banquet where Yosef barely acknowledged him.
If Laura hadn't been dating Derek, the Penrose family might not have considered Elliott.
Seeing Luke and Rose's prolonged silence, Isadora became nervous and uneasy. "Mom, why are you saying all this? Since I work at the Miller Group, saving Mr. Elliott Miller was my duty. Even if it wasn't Mr. Elliott Miller, I would have saved anyone else."
"Alright, I know your little thoughts," Thalia sighed. "Mr. Luke Miller, to be honest, my daughter saw your son at a banquet once and fell in love at first sight. That's why she insisted on working at the Miller Group instead of our own company."
"Mom," Isadora glared at Thalia, embarrassed.
Elliott, who had been silent, was taken aback and frowned. Had he met Isadora before?
He had trouble recognizing women's faces unless he saw them frequently. If he had only seen her once or twice, he could easily mix them up.
Rose, understanding the situation, was eager for Elliott to get married. A girl who liked Elliott and had saved him naturally left a good impression. "How old is she?"
"Twenty-three," Thalia promptly replied.
"She's quite young. Our Elliott is already thirty," Rose gave Elliott a meaningful look.
"Men are more reliable and mature when they're a few years older," Thalia hinted.
With the conversation at this point, everyone understood.
Isadora blushed and lowered her head, saying nothing.
After a moment of silence in the room, Yosef spoke directly, "Mr. Luke Miller, you know how precious a girl's skin is. My beloved daughter got injured for him. To be honest, your son must take responsibility for my daughter. The best way is for them to get married, so I don't have to worry about her being rejected because of her scars."
Luke nodded and looked at Elliott. "What do you think?"
Elliott remained silent, his face cold.
Yosef snorted, "We reviewed the surveillance footage. If my daughter hadn't pushed you away in time, the glass could have hit your head. You might have been seriously injured or even killed."
Rose sighed, "If Elliott could have a wife like Isadora, we would be very happy. Elliott, your mother agrees with you marrying Isadora. What do you think? A man must take responsibility."
Rose had made up her mind. Given Elliott's personality, if they didn't push him, he wouldn't react. If they let this drag on, she might not see Elliott get married before she passed away. This incident was a good opportunity to push him.
Elliott pursed his lips, feeling helpless.
But it was a fact that Isadora had saved him.
Marrying someone was marrying someone, after all.
"Alright."
After a long pause, he finally uttered a word.
The Penrose family's expressions softened, and Isadora looked at him, her eyes red and filled with emotion.
Luke and Rose were also satisfied.
They had never intended for Elliott to marry above his station, but the match had to be appropriate. If the gap between the two was too large, the marriage could face problems.
Isadora was just right.
That evening, when Laura came home from work and heard that Elliott was getting married, she was stunned.
"Isadora? His assistant?"
She quickly took a sip of water to calm herself.
