Chapter 344

She was suddenly hit by the memory of the last time she had been at his mansion; a woman was hidden away. She had tried to investigate, but it was like hitting a dead end.

"Ah, now I remember; I told him to pick extra to bring to Jane." Mildred slapped her forehead. "Look at my memory."

"That makes sense." Luna's expression softened slightly.

...

At half-past seven in the evening, the butler came in with an array of valuables after dinner.

"Later, when you drop Luna home, take these things over to Leo's family," Walter said. "And tomorrow, you and Luna can discuss how you want the wedding to go."

Luna's cheeks blushed shyly as she looked expectantly at Joseph, only to see him put down his fork, his brows furrowed with an icy detachment. "When did I agree to get married?"

"When are you planning on dragging this out?" Walter rarely lost his temper, but this time, he raised his voice. "True, you brought Liam back safe, but now the rumors say you wanted to kill your brother. Luna is Leo Chapman's daughter. Leo Chapman was one of Madison's top ten notables last year and highly respected. Marrying Luna and showing off some public affection could turn around your current bad press."

"Huh."

Joseph laughed deeply, like he had heard a joke. "Do you think someone with my skills and abilities needs to put on a show?"

"Nowadays, who doesn't put on a show with social media?" Mildred chimed in.

"I'm above that." Joseph stood up abruptly. "If you all think my reputation is bad, then let Liam take the CEO seat. I'm powerful and influential; I don't care what people say."

"Are you trying to kill me?" Marcus slammed the table in anger.

"You're strong as an ox; I can't kill you," Joseph said with an elegant wipe of his lips before striding upstairs. Two minutes later, he was heading toward the exit with the basket of strawberries.

Luna's face was ashen, but Mildred stopped him and said, "Stop right there, Joseph. Take Luna home."

"... Alright."

Joseph's glance wavered before he agreed. Filled with joy, Luna ran after him and got into his car.

The safety belt had barely clicked when the sports car shot out like a rocket.

The whole way, Joseph was driving not just a car but a missile - drifting and hitting speeds of at least two hundred miles per hour, terrifying Luna into screaming all the way.

Finally, they reached the entrance to Leo's family villa. Joseph slammed on the brakes so hard that Luna lurched forward and threw up.

Joseph stepped out of the car gracefully and offered her a tissue.

Luna took it, stunned, only to hear his calm voice. "If I were you, I'd take this as a cue to leave."

"What do you mean?" Luna asked, filled with unease.
Joseph lit a cigarette, held it between his lips, and took a graceful drag. "Can't you tell? I'm not into you. Feel free to tell others you found me incompatible and initiated the breakup."

"I don't believe it." Tears spilled from Luna's eyes as she spoke, "Joseph, you do like me. Otherwise, why would you have danced with me? Why would you come over for dinner?"

"I was blind," Joseph spat out coldly.

Luna was on the verge of collapse. "I won't break up with you, Joseph. I've had feelings for you for so long; I can't be without you."

"Seems like you're not on board." Joseph raised an eyebrow.

Luna gripped his sleeve, pleading, "Joseph, I know you've got someone else, but I can turn a blind eye. Look, Mildred and Grandpa like me. They'll be thrilled if we get married. Plus, with your reputation on the line, rumors of cheating now..."

"Are you threatening me?" Joseph grabbed her chin sharply.
