Chapter 918 I Won't Take Responsibility for You
"Bullshit, of course..." Michael glanced around and suddenly felt less confident; this didn't seem to be his room either.
"This isn't your room, is it?" Laura's eyes reddened with anger. "Michael, you creep, I never thought you'd appear so devoted to Megan on the surface but secretly make a move on me. Are you so desperate for a woman? Why don't you go find Megan?"
"Make a move on you?" Michael was furious. "Clearly, you took advantage of my status, waited until I was drunk, and then sexually exploited me."
He was about to go crazy. After finally proposing to Megan and preserving his virginity, it was all ruined in one night by this woman.
"With your idiotic brain, I wouldn't be interested even if you begged me to sleep with you. Besides... last night was my first time, okay?" Laura was so frustrated that she was about to cry.
"Enough, don't take me for a fool. You still being a virgin is a joke. I've seen you entangled with other men before." Michael hadn't finished speaking when he suddenly noticed a blood-red stain on the white sheets. He was instantly shocked.
The bloodstain couldn't be faked. He hadn't expected Laura actually to be a virgin.
He was a bit stunned and even more at a loss. "Don't expect me to take responsibility. I won't be responsible for you."
"Go to hell." Laura grabbed a pillow and threw it at him.
Suddenly, the door was flung open, and a group of reporters barged in.
The scene was all too familiar, and Michael felt like he was about to break down. Why did he always encounter such situations?
"Mr. Jude, aren't you dating Miss Ray? How did you end up in bed with Laura?" one reporter asked.
"Mr. Jude, is this an affair?" another reporter questioned.
"Laura, can you tell us about your relationship with Mr. Jude?" someone else chimed in.
"It seemed like you two were quite intense last night," the fourth reporter inquired.
The reporters' flashbulbs kept going off,, capturing them.
Laura quickly wrapped herself in the blanket and fled to the bathroom. Wasn't this the same tactic she had arranged to use against Michael before? She never thought it would be used against her today, and the feeling was driving her crazy.
How could she be so unlucky? Who had she offended in her life?
Fortunately, the hotel's security personnel quickly arrived to clear the scene and thoughtfully brought clothes for the two of them.
After changing her clothes, Laura slipped out to find Michael angrily berating the hotel manager.
"Those reporters barged right in without even knocking. Clearly, they had room keys. How is your hotel managed?" Michael reprimanded.
"Mr. Jude, you held a press conference here last night. These reporters were booked by the Ocean Blue group and stayed in rooms downstairs. As for how they got in, they had room keys. I truly don't know how the room keys ended up in their hands," the hotel manager explained with great difficulty.
"Go check. I want a thorough investigation immediately." Michael fumed, then turned to Laura with a warning. "If the media asks, you say you seduced me, got it? You don't have a man, but I do have a girlfriend. Megan will break up with me."
"I seduced you?" Laura was speechless. "Are you even a man? You're so shameless, only thinking about yourself. Haven't you considered that reputation is also important to a woman?"
"Cut the crap. If I find out you were the one who brought me here last night, you'll regret it," Michael warned seriously.
Laura stormed out, but as she reached the door, she turned back and stated, "Don't worry. Megan won't break up with you. Now that she's lost Joseph, you're her only support. At most, she'll pretend to break up, and after a few sweet words from you, she'll forgive you. She'll even say it's not your fault, and you're innocent. She'll clear your name."
With that, Laura slammed the door and left.
Michael was left dumbfounded.
Laura, dragging her aching legs, had just stepped out of the hotel when Cassie called her.
"Laura, you're amazing," Cassie said admiringly. "Michael just made a big show of proposing to Megan, and the next day, you slept with him. You're really going all out to get back at Megan. Now you've been trending, and everyone in Madison knows."
"Shut up," Laura said, on the verge of tears. "I didn't know, okay? I drank too much last night, got completely drunk, and Michael ruined my first time. I'm so frustrated."
"You were probably set up," Cassie reminded her. "Did you take a morning-after pill? Go buy one quickly."
"Right." Laura hurried to a nearby pharmacy. When the employee heard she wanted morning-after pills, she turned to get them, but the phone suddenly rang.
After answering, the employee's expression subtly changed.
After hanging up, she told Laura, "The pills are in the back. I'll get them. Please wait a moment."
Once inside, the employee swapped the morning-after pills with vitamin C tablets and handed them to Laura.
After paying, Laura took the pills as she left the store.
Unbeknownst to her, Julia was sitting in a car nearby.
After Laura left, Julia called Eric. "Grandpa, I had the pharmacy switch the morning-after pills."
"Good, well done. Laura may be wronged this time, but once she's part of the Jude family, we'll compensate the Miller family accordingly," Eric said.
Meanwhile, Megan's beautiful face twisted in rage as she saw the news photos of Laura and Michael disheveled bodies.
Wasn't Michael supposed to be taken away by Julia last night? How did he end up in bed with Laura?
Fuming, she quickly dialed Nathan's number. "You idiot, what did you do last night? Didn't you say you were going to sleep with Laura? How did she end up with Michael instead?"
"I don't know." Nathan fumed as well. "I forgot to take the room key last night, so I left Laura on the fire escape. When I came back, she was gone. I even went to her room to look for her but couldn't find her."
"You're useless," Megan cursed him out.
She could tell that Julia had been watching them the night before. This was definitely Julia's work.
Just as she was about to complain to Michael, a video message from James the chairman of the Jude Group popped up on the screen.
She clicked on it and saw James being interviewed by reporters at his doorstep.
A reporter asked, "James, have you heard about your son Michael spending the night with Laura?"
James answered, "Yes, I do. It's no big deal. Laura is actually my son's fiancée."
The reporter questioned, "What? But didn't Michael propose to Megan a few days ago? Isn't Megan his fiancée?"
