"Laura?" Joseph's mind involuntarily conjured up images of Sie at the mention of the name. He had been diligently avoiding thoughts of her in recent days. Yet, with Laura's name now hanging in the air, the events from three years prior were thrust back into the spotlight.
"Yes, it appears she's intent on unearthing the truth from three years ago," Nathaniel hesitated, "Given Nathan's tarnished reputation of late, public sentiment is turning against him. Now, there are whispers online... about you and Megan.""What are they saying about me?" Joseph asked coldly.
"They're saying that you... are throwing your weight around."Megan, fresh from trying on a wedding dress, overheard this and her beautiful face contorted. She had never anticipated Laura's reemergence. She found herself wondering, wasn't she just working under Michael back then? How did she, like Sie, end up turning the tables?She bit her lip, feigning guilt. "I'm sorry, Joseph, I didn't expect the past to cause you trouble again. But I have already reprimanded Nathan, and he has improved a lot over the years."Nathaniel felt compelled to add, "But... "Okay." Megan held back her tears. "Joseph, do you think this wedding dress looks good on me?"Joseph glanced at her casually and nodded. "Yes."With that, he turned on his heel and left. For some reason, Joseph couldn't shake the thought that if Sie were in that wedding dress, she would look even more stunning.
Megan watched his retreating figure, her foot stamping in frustration.As if on cue, Nathan's call came through, "Megan, that despicable Laura is back again. This time, I will definitely bring her down!"
