Chapter 1099 Now It's My Turn to Flirt with You

"Stop talking." Cassie stuffed a lobster into his mouth.

After Joseph finished eating, he leaned in and whispered in her ear, "I prefer it when you use your mouth to shut me up."

Cassie stomped on his foot under the table.

Laura could sense what was going on as she wasn't naive.

At that moment, she felt incredibly out of place.

After they finished eating, Joseph went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Laura said sadly, "I just wanted to have some lobster to celebrate, but now I just want to ask you guys to leave."

Cassie felt a bit embarrassed and whispered, "It's not like that. I haven't gotten back together with him."

Laura shot her a look that said, "You haven't gotten back together, but you were kissing him in the kitchen for so long."

Cassie was too embarrassed to say anything more. When Joseph finished washing the dishes, she took him and left.

As they left, they carried lobsters for Sophia and Oliver.

Because of Laura's teasing, Cassie didn't give Joseph a good look the entire way.

Cassie thought it was all his fault for flirting with her inappropriately, making her lose face.

But Joseph didn't get angry. Halfway through the drive, he said he needed to get something and asked her to wait.

Cassie saw him enter a store and come out shortly with an ice cream.

"Cassie, I don't know why you're upset again, but it must be I haven't done enough. Have some ice cream to cool down." Joseph placed it in her hand.

Cassie looked down at the ice cream in his hand, decorated with strawberries and chocolate, something any girl would love.

But next to the ice cream were his injured hands.

Joseph hurt his hands while cleaning the lobster, and later, peeling and washing them made the small wounds even redder.

"Try it," Joseph urged, "Every time I pass by here, there's always a long line. It should be really good."

Cassie lowered her head and took a small lick with her tongue.

The taste was rich and smooth, especially with the strawberry pieces and the aroma of cream.

"Is it good?" Joseph looked at her gently and expectantly.

Joseph was trying hard to please Cassie, afraid she wouldn't be satisfied.

Cassie lowered her eyes, her long lashes hiding the light in her eyes. After a moment, she nodded.

Joseph smiled and felt relieved. "As long as it's good."

"Do you want to try a bite?" Cassie held the ice cream up to his mouth.

Joseph was stunned, looking at her beautiful, clean face, somewhat surprised. "You really want me to share it with you?"

"I just want you to taste it. It's too big for me to finish," Cassie said calmly.

Joseph's gaze lingered on her face for a few seconds before he lowered his head and took a bite of the ice cream from her hand. "So sweet, just like you."

In the small, enclosed car, the air suddenly became warmer.

Cassie said helplessly, "Joseph, can you stop flirting all the time?"

"I'm just doing what you used to do. You used to flirt with me like this, didn't you?" Joseph suddenly said.

Cassie was taken aback. "You remember the past?"

"I haven't forgotten everything. I remember things before I fell in love with you," Joseph said honestly, a bit regretful.

Memories should be the most beautiful part of a relationship, but he had lost them.

"Cassie, you used to flirt with me. Now it's my turn to flirt with you," Joseph said in a deep voice, his gaze intense.

Cassie was silent. She could only lower her head and quietly eat the ice cream.

Joseph started the car.

Later, when she had eaten half of the ice cream, Cassie couldn't eat anymore.

She felt it would be a waste to throw it away, so she gave it to Joseph.

Joseph drove with one hand and finished the rest of the ice cream with the other.

Cassie watched and felt emotional. Although they hadn't officially gotten back together, they were doing all the things couples do.

Moreover, she had felt repulsed even by a casual kiss with David but not with Joseph.

Sometimes, she felt like a butterfly trying hard to fly upwards, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't escape the web Joseph had woven.

When they arrived at the Hernandez Family, Cassie took out the lobsters.

Oliver and Sophia were overjoyed, and Cassie peeled the lobster for Oliver while Joseph did the same for Sophia.

Mildred, being older, couldn't eat, but watching the kids made her happy, too. "Cassie, it's so late. Why don't you stay the night? Joseph has already bought some new clothes for you and put them in Oliver and Sophia's closet."

Cassie felt extremely awkward, but Sophia quickly said, "Mommy, stay and sleep. I missed you so much."

Cassie couldn't say anything more.

After she showered, Joseph was sitting cross-legged on the bed, telling stories to Oliver and Sophia.

However, both Sophia and Oliver found his storytelling lacking. When they saw Cassie come out, Oliver immediately said, "Your stories aren't moving at all. I want Mommy to tell them."

"Alright, your mommy will tell the stories, and the three of us will listen." Joseph quickly patted the empty spot next to him.

Three of them looked at Cassie.

She had to walk over, sit in the empty spot, and take the book from Joseph's hand to start reading.

Oliver and Sophia listened intently, and Joseph occasionally added comments, making the story more engaging.

After one story after another, Joseph finally said seriously, "It's very late. Your mommy has had a long day. Let her rest early."

"Joseph, you should go to sleep too. We're going to sleep with Mommy," Oliver said defensively, "Don't sneak in at night, sleep on the floor, and catch a cold."

"Then just let me stay. I'll sleep on the floor to protect you," Joseph said, trying to please.

"No! Don't think I don't know. You want to sleep with Mommy." Oliver hit the nail on the head.

Cassie awkwardly pushed Joseph out and locked the door, but she felt that locking the door might not stop Joseph.

Sure enough, after the kids fell asleep, Joseph quietly unlocked the door and sneaked in with a blanket. However, when he saw Cassie still awake and sitting on the bed, he felt a bit guilty.

"Cassie, don't be mad. I didn't plan to get in bed. I'll sleep on the floor," Joseph said, lying down on the floor.

Cassie walked over to him speechlessly. "Let me see your hands."

Joseph obediently extended his hands.

Cassie turned on the bedside lamp, took a bottle of iodine from the nightstand, and applied it to his wounds.

The dim orange light spilled over her face and hair, making her look breathtakingly beautiful.

Joseph watched her silently for a while. When she finished applying the medicine, he pulled her into his arms.
