Chapter 1541 Laura Was Bullied by Isla

When Laura walked into the banquet hall, she handed over her gift, only to hear an irritating voice behind her. "Well, if it isn't Laura! Long time no see."

Turning around, Laura saw Isla clinging to the arm of an old man with gray hair and a big belly.

Noah had warned her, but seeing the seventy-year-old chairman Micah Porter in person still made Laura feel sick. He was old enough to be Isla's grandpa, yet Isla was all in to marry him.

Isla was decked out in luxury, flaunting her wealth like she was scared people wouldn't notice she married rich.

"Micah, this is Laura from the Miller Group," Isla said in a sugary tone to Micah. "But Laura's recently divorced. Her husband cheated on her. You heard about that, right? Her kid wasn't even a hundred days old when the guy bailed."

Micah ignored Isla, his eyes lighting up when he saw Laura.

He thought Isla was attractive, but next to Laura, Isla didn't even compare in class or style.

"Hello, Laura," Micah said with a smile, extending his hand.

Laura recognized that look and felt a wave of nausea. But since they were all guests, she kept it cool and smiled, "Hello, I'm not really familiar with the older crowd."

Micah, half-smiling, said, "Laura, are you looking down on me?"

He glanced at his still-raised hand.

Laura smiled, "When I left the Presidential Palace, my Godmother reminded me to be mindful of my status when I returned to Silverwood. Sorry."

With that, she ignored Micah's darkening expression and walked into the hall.

Noah shrugged, "Micah, don't make trouble for the sake of your descendant. Even though Laura's divorced, the Presidential Palace still backs her. She's just here to spend Christmas with her parents. This might be the Miller family's last year in Silverwood, which is a big deal."

Micah's face shifted as he was regretting his earlier impulsiveness. "I heard the Miller family is moving to Whisperlyn City. Is that true?"

"Yep. They've already bought the land and the villa. It's a tough process, but the Jude family supports it, and Laura's company is doing great," Noah said, glancing at Isla. "Micah, you better keep an eye on your companion. Don't let her stir up trouble. The Collins family has some deals with Horizon Ventures Group, and I don't want to switch partners halfway."

Noah turned and left smoothly.

Isla sneered, "Noah and Laura are close, she's just trying to scare us. Laura's just a woman dumped by the Jude family after a divorce. What could she possibly have to rely on, right, Micah?"

Micah glared at Isla for a moment and said, "Watch your mouth later."

Micah, being old, appreciated Laura's beauty but hated her disdain.

Still, Micah had to admit, if something really went down, his useless descendants would be in big trouble.

Isla's eyes widened in disbelief, then she bit her lip and looked down, staying silent.

If there was anyone Isla despised most, it was Laura.

When Laura married Michael, Isla had no choice but to accept it. When she heard Michael had cheated on Laura, she was thrilled.

Sure, the Miller family was doing well now, but Horizon Ventures Group wasn't too shabby either. Isla couldn't believe that even after Laura's divorce, she'd still have protection.

In the banquet hall, Laura felt a bit better now that Isla was out of sight.

Given Laura's special status, the Collins family naturally seated her in the VIP section.

The entire VIP section was filled with older women and men, with Laura being the only young woman, drawing attention from everyone in the hall.

"Who is that woman? She's quite beautiful," Mrs. Jude asked.

Isla quickly chimed in, "That's Laura."

"She's Laura? The one whose husband cheated on her right after she had a baby?" Mrs. Jude asked.

"Yes," Isla replied.

"She looks pretty, but what a sad situation," Mrs. Jude sighed.

"That's why women shouldn't rely on getting pregnant to marry into a wealthy family. Once the child is born, those women will be abandoned quickly. Girls must respect themselves and not get pregnant before marriage. Laura is the perfect example," Isla said.

By the time the conversation reached Laura's ears, it had turned quite nasty, making it sound like she shamelessly got pregnant to marry into the Jude family for money and fame. Everyone was using her as a cautionary tale for their children.

The most heated discussions were among the women in the hall. Laura couldn't understand why women often made things difficult for other women.

Laura felt extremely disappointed and angry.

Noah also heard and felt very sorry, as this was happening at the Collins family banquet. "I'll find out who spread this."

"No need," Laura glanced at Isla, who smiled smugly at her. "It must be Isla."

Noah rubbed his forehead. Micah was probably socializing, leaving Isla to talk nonsense. "That bitch. I'll teach her a lesson for you."

"No need, I'll do it myself," Laura said coldly.

Noah looked at Laura's face. He had heard from Joseph that Laura and Cassie had learned some combat skills abroad. Teaching Isla a lesson would be easy for Laura, but he was concerned about Micah. If Isla got beaten up at the banquet, Micah might be embarrassed and cause trouble for Laura.

After thinking for a moment, Noah sent a message in the group chat: [Laura ran into Isla and got bullied by her.]

The group had originally included Noah, Michael, Lucas, and Joseph. Later, Cassie joined, and after Michael and Joseph had a falling out, they left the group.

Cassie: [Isla dared to bully Laura? Noah, aren't you going to deal with Isla yourself?]

Noah: [I wanted to, but Isla married Micah, and the Collins family has some cooperation with them. Laura decided to handle it herself, and I'm worried Micah will cause trouble for Laura afterward.]
