Chapter 1298 David Got Beaten Up

David had done his homework on Declan before letting Olivia get close.

This dude was on a whole different level; he had actually killed people.

Not like David, who just hired hitmen; Declan got his hands dirty.

And yeah, Neya City had some nasty killers, but under the Wittelsbach family's watch, no one dared to stir up trouble.

All thanks to Declan being a total badass.

Trying to mess with Declan was a suicide mission. Plus, Declan had rolled into Madison, where the Wittelsbach family didn't have much pull. David had to trade shares to get Ralph on his side before he even thought about facing Declan.

Since Declan showed up, Robert looked like a deer in headlights.

He'd tangled with Declan before; the guy was straight-up dangerous.

"Who the hell are you?" Lars, clueless about Declan, was the first to pipe up.

Declan ignored him and zeroed in on David, "You must be David."

"Who might you be?" David asked all polite, playing dumb.

"Nice try." Declan smirked.

His assistant whipped out a fancy leather chair for him.

Declan plopped down, lit a cigar, and after blowing out a thick cloud of smoke, he said, "You know me well. You've been plotting against me for ages. My wife's in the hospital, and my kid's missing. That's on you, right? It's been a while since anyone dared to mess with me like this."

"I have no idea what you're talking about." David put on his best confused and innocent face. "This is the first time we've met."

Cassie, watching from the sidelines, was fuming. Honestly, if she were Declan, she'd probably be so mad she'd burn David's face with that cigar.

But Declan just nodded calmly, "Maybe you'll get to know me real soon, like when you get a call from Yugrot. The medical deal you had with them? Canceled. Your drugs and gear? Never gonna be sold in Yugrot. Actually, no country will work with the Wit Group."

As he spoke, Declan glanced at his watch and said, "By now, you should be getting that call from Yugrot."

Right on cue, David's phone rang.

It was indeed a call from Yugrot.

David's face went pale, but he had to keep it together and answer.

Cassie noticed that as soon as the call connected, David's once cocky face turned ghostly white.

She knew Declan had made his move.

David had really pissed him off this time.

After finally hanging up, David looked at Declan with eyes full of hurt, anger, and desperation. "How did I offend you? Do you know how many people in Yugrot are waiting for my medicine? Their medical facilities suck, and a lot of people need treatment but can't get good meds. Our deal with Yugrot made them so happy."

"I never meant to do any harm. My mission is to make sure poor and underdeveloped countries get medical help so they don't die in misery. Do you get that?"

Cassie was straight-up grossed out.

She realized David could totally snag an Oscar with his acting skills.

David, the scumbag, had the nerve to claim he wanted to save sick people around the world.

Joseph, standing nearby, sneered, "That's some BS. Madison's medical facilities aren't exactly top-tier. You couldn't sell your drugs to richer countries, so you pawn them off on poor ones to make a buck. Those folks might be broke, but they still need meds. You make a killing by selling cheap and calling yourself a hero. Do you think we're all idiots?"

Declan, rubbing his temples, chuckled at Joseph's words. "Man, I've seen a lot of scumbags, but you're something else."

David, pride wounded, clenched his fists as the insults kept coming.

Declan slowly got up and walked toward David.

Robert, who was with David, felt a chill run down his spine as Declan approached.

But stuck in his wheelchair, he couldn't back away and just gripped the armrests helplessly.

"Declan, what are you doing? We're in Madison. This is the Hernandez Group," David muttered, trying to sound tough.

"Oh, so you do know who I am? Thought you were playing dumb." Declan casually unbuttoned a couple of buttons on his shirt, rolled up his sleeves, showing off his strong, bronze arms. His fists looked like they could break bones.

"Help!" Lars, sensing danger, tried to call for backup.

But Declan's assistant grabbed Lars and slammed him onto the conference table.

At the same time, Declan's fist connected with David's face.

David flew back against the wall, blood dripping from his lips, a tooth knocked out. He was in so much pain he couldn't even speak.

Robert was frozen with fear. "Stop, or we'll call the cops."

"Go ahead, call them. Let's see who dares to arrest me." Declan raised an eyebrow. "Even if you bring Ralph here, he wouldn't dare touch me."

"Just you wait." David struggled to stand, pointing a shaky finger at Declan.

Declan grabbed his finger and snapped it.

David screamed in agony.

"Weren't you telling me to wait?" Declan smirked, leaning in to whisper, "You think just because you have my son, I won't fight back?"

David glared at him, eyes bloodshot. He dropped the act, realizing he might not make it out if he kept pretending. "If you touch me again, I'll cut off one of your son's hands."

"Do it." Declan didn't even flinch. "I plan to rescue him, but I don't expect him to come out unscathed. Losing an arm is just a lesson. If he's my son and still this useless, he doesn't deserve to be my heir."
