Chapter 1181 Was He for Bernice?

Sarah didn't expect Lucas to show up.

Even when things were better between them, he never visited her on set.

But today, there he was.

She remembered seeing Bernice leave his office looking disheveled, and Lucas had that unmistakable look of desire.

Her heart burned with anger, but she kept a calm face.

No matter what, Lucas was her boyfriend, so everyone assumed he was there for her.

"Mr. Nelson, you're here to see Sarah, right?" Callie greeted Lucas with a smile. "Sarah's been great today. She came early and has been discussing her role with me. Very dedicated."

Sarah smiled humbly. "Ms. Gray, it's an honor to be part of this. You've been working on this show for years. I can't let the team down. I still have a lot to learn, so please guide me."

"Don't worry, as long as you're willing to work hard," Callie nodded.

Lucas looked surprised. He thought Callie would be annoyed since Sarah got the role through connections, but she had already earned Callie's praise. Ms. Gray was known to be strict, so Sarah must have put in some effort.

He glanced at Sarah indifferently. She felt a chill and quickly changed the subject. "Ms. Gray, when do we start shooting?"

"We're waiting for the second female lead. She hasn't arrived yet."

Callie turned to Lucas, clearly annoyed. "Mr. Nelson, please tell Mr. Jenkins to talk to Bernice. I can't stand actors who are late. It's the first day, and it's already nine o'clock. If this happens again, I'll replace her."

Callie had initially liked Bernice for her talent, but her lateness changed that.

Lucas frowned. He didn't expect Bernice to be so unpunctual.

He thought, 'Is she trying to show an attitude? No, she can't be that foolish.'

"Did you call Bernice?" Lucas asked coolly.

"Half an hour ago. She said she was on her way, but she's still not here," Callie snorted. "I've seen this before. They say they're on their way but are just getting up."

Sarah suggested gently, "Ms. Gray, why don't we shoot the second scene first? It's with me and the male actor. I'm ready."

"Alright," Callie nodded. "Mr. Nelson, you can sit over there."

Lucas nodded and was about to move when two people rushed in. The first was Bernice, in a gray tracksuit, her long hair messy, and her face bare, looking like she was only eighteen.

Bernice and her young assistant arrived, both out of breath.

Callie snorted. "Ms. Ramsey, you finally made it. We've been waiting for half an hour."

"Ms. Gray, I'm really sorry," Bernice said, feeling her heart sink. Callie had been so pleasant on the phone yesterday. "I didn't mean to be late."

"Bernice, just be careful next time," Sarah said quickly, grabbing Lucas's arm. "Lucas got here before you. And why haven't you done your makeup yet?"

"Alright, enough. Get your makeup and costume done. Your scene's moved to the afternoon," Callie said angrily and walked away.

"Bernice, hurry up. Ms. Gray is really mad," Sarah urged.

Bernice glanced at Sarah and Lucas, already in a bad mood, and walked away, even more annoyed.

"Stop," Lucas called out. "I'm your boss, and you don't even greet me? Is this how Max trains his artists? You need some etiquette lessons."

Bernice closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and turned around with an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry, Mr. Nelson. I was rushing to get my makeup done and forgot to greet you. Please forgive me."

Lucas looked at her flushed face and said coolly, "Next time, don't be late. And don't embarrass me or Dreamscape Entertainment Group."

"Mr. Nelson, I'm sorry. It won't happen again," Bernice apologized and walked away.

Sarah looked up at Lucas, seeing him staring thoughtfully at Bernice's back. She bit her lip and forced a smile. "Lucas, it's really sunny here. Why don't you rest over there? I'll try to finish early, and we can have dinner together."

"Dinner with you? That would ruin my appetite," Lucas said, turning away expressionlessly.

Sarah's face fell, but she forced a smile. "Then, didn't you come here for me today?"

"For you?" Lucas sneered. "Haven't I made our relationship clear enough?"

"So, you came for Bernice?" Sarah whispered, gritting her teeth. "Did you forget I told you she used to be with Gary?"

"Sarah," Lucas said coldly. "Don't act like you weren't kept before you met me. I even found out you had surgery to restore your virginity. If I were you, I'd be too ashamed to talk about others."

Sarah's eyes filled with panic and embarrassment. "That's not what I meant. I'm worried you'll get involved with Gary."

"Do you think I'm no match for Gary?" Lucas's eyes narrowed.

"Of course not," Sarah stammered.

"If you can't speak properly, then shut your mouth. My business is none of your concern. Besides, I have no interest in Bernice. If you put half your scheming into your acting, your skills wouldn't be so terrible," Lucas said and walked away, disappearing from Sarah's sight.

Sarah held back her tears.

Lucas was getting more ruthless with his words.

"Sarah, you're so lucky. Mr. Nelson came to see you on your first day with the crew," Cassidy Diaz ran over, trying to flatter her.
