"Laura, you don't have to be afraid. We are not malicious," the butler urged against the door.
"I've ruined Michael's reputation; how could you not have ill intentions toward me?" Laura retorted.
Laura had a lack of trust in these families; previously, Cassie had been summoned by Walter, resulting in her face being disfigured.
Laura hadn't found a boyfriend yet; she didn't want to be disfigured or imprisoned.
"If you don't cooperate, I'll have to take you away forcibly," the butler sighed helplessly.
Seeing the bodyguards about to barge in, Cassie walked over and said, "Laura, I'll go with you."
"Cassie..." The butler frowned; Cassie was the heir of the Chapman family, he had heard about it.
"I believe the Jude family are reasonable people, too. Let's talk things out. Honestly, let my friend go alone; I'm also worried," Cassie said.
"Alright," the butler nodded, "then let's go together."
"Laura, are you sure you want to come with me?" Laura felt a bit uneasy. Laura and Cassie had no knowledge of the Jude family; they weren't sure what risks they might face there.
"Well, out of respect for my dad, I hope the Jude family won't give us too much trouble," Cassie replied.
Cassie wasn't too sure what she actually said.
Once Cassie got in the car, she shamelessly sent a text to Joseph for help.
There was no other way; despite hating Joseph, if Joseph came, Cassie and Laura should be able to leave safely. After all, everyone in Madison respected Joseph.
One hour later.
The car pulled up to the Jude family's mansion. In contrast to the grand and solemn atmosphere of the Hernandez family estate, the architecture of the Jude family's home was very elegant and refined. Even a small tree in the yard could be more expensive than a house elsewhere.
As they passed through a gate, Laura noticed a tall, slender woman walking ahead. The woman moved swiftly, and Laura only caught a brief glimpse of her beautiful profile, but it was enough to leave an impression on Laura.
"What's wrong?" Cassie turned to look at Laura.
Excitedly, Laura grabbed Cassie's hand and whispered, "Did you see that woman just now? She seems to be... my older brother's ex-girlfriend. I saw her photos on my brother's phone."
As the car approached the Jude family's mansion, Laura couldn't help but notice the striking difference in architecture compared to the grandeur of the Hernandez family estate. The Jude home exuded elegance and refinement, with even a small tree in the yard appearing more luxurious than a house elsewhere.
As they passed through a gate, Laura caught sight of a tall, graceful woman walking ahead. Although their encounter was brief, the woman's beauty and poise left a lasting impression on Laura.
"No way, I've never heard of your brother having a girlfriend." Cassie confused.
"It was during his time studying abroad that he had a relationship. I haven't met her, but consider this. That was my brother's only love affair." After Laura made her emotional statement, she turned to the butler and inquired, "Excuse me, who was that stunning lady we just walked by? She's so beautiful and elegant."
"She's the young lady of our Jude family."
The butler, hearing Laura's polite and friendly words, had a much better impression of her.
