Chapter 1791 He Never Truly Had Her

Lucas was silent.

"Come on, give it your all and pioneer this. You might just make history, and many men will thank you," Nina said sincerely.

Lucas laughed out of anger.

If he believed her, not only would he be cursed to death by the public tomorrow, but the Nelson family's ancestral graves might also be dug up and desecrated.

"What's so funny?" Nina blinked her eyes. "Don't you believe what I said, or don't you believe in yourself? In your mind, aren't you the master of everything? Don't you think no one can oppose you? Isn't it trivial to toy with women because they're all cheap? Don't you even know what shame is?"

The last sentence hit Lucas like a slap in the face.

His grip tightened, and the smile on his handsome face was replaced by a furious anger.

"Alright, Bernice, you know me well. Since you know me so well, guess how I'll treat you next?" Lucas asked viciously, almost grinding his teeth.

"I'll have my ways to deal with it, but I will never regret what I've done."

Nina's beautiful eyes were calm and indifferent.

They were very close, and Lucas's reflection was visible in her pupils. Facing those brave yet familiar eyes, Lucas let go of her hand. "Very well, Bernice, remember what you said today."

"I have a good memory," Nina turned and walked away elegantly without looking back.

Lucas watched her back, his eyes filled with admiration, hatred, amusement, excitement, and other emotions he hadn't noticed.

No woman had ever piqued his interest like this.

She made him want to slowly torment her and also to pin her down and conquer her fiercely.

Although he had possessed Bernice, he suddenly realized he had never truly had her.

From the moment Lucas arrived at tonight's banquet, everyone became cautious.

During the auction, Lucas and Bernice were separated by two seats.

People spent more time sneaking glances at them than looking at the auction items.

The best actress sitting in between them was terrified. She sneaked a glance at Nina, who was eating snacks beside her.

So envious.

At this moment, she could still eat snacks.

No wonder she was the woman who sent Mr. Nelson to prison.

At this moment, a famous painting was suddenly being auctioned on stage.

Nina suddenly raised her paddle, "Two million dollars."

Lucas quickly followed, "Five million dollars."

Everyone gasped.

No wonder it's the Nelson family, bidding such a high price for an ordinary painting.

So everyone looked at Nina again. Nina put down her paddle and continued eating snacks.

Lucas crossed his legs and looked at Bernice with a smile, "Aren't you going to continue bidding?"

"Too expensive, I don't have the money," Nina calmly shook her head.

Even though Lucas won, he suddenly didn't feel the satisfaction he wanted.

Look at her, she says she has no money so confidently, unlike others who hide their empty pockets and pretend to be big shots. What else could he say?

After the auction, Nina quickly left.

A waiter came over with a painting, "Ms. Ramsey, this is the painting you bought."

"You've got it wrong." Nina immediately recognized the painting as the one Lucas had bought.

Waiter: "The name of the buyer is written as yours."

"Is that so?" Nina took the painting from the tray, twirled it around a couple of times, and then tossed it towards the trash can by the door.

The painting made a beautiful arc in the air and landed accurately in the trash can.

The waiter stood there stunned, then saw Nina's skirt swish as she walked away gracefully and beautifully.

Not far away, Lucas watched this scene with a smile on his lips.

At ten o'clock at night.

Lucas arrived late at the club.

Joseph smiled and said, "We've been waiting for you with good drinks and food, and now the main character finally shows up."

"Mr. Nelson, I heard you attended the charity event at the Enchanted Forest Hotel tonight," Damon Whitley said with a smile. "You even bought a painting, but it was given away."

"News travels fast," Lucas said without embarrassment, elegantly sitting on the sofa.

Joseph looked at Lucas and sighed, "Lucas, haven't I advised you enough? What exactly do you want? Can't you just end things with Bernice?"

Lucas didn't answer Joseph's question but asked, "Did Bernice invest in some big project? She told me she makes quite a lot of money, with an annual income of hundreds of billions of dollars."

"What, hundreds of billions of dollars?" A wealthy man nearby said, "It's hard to find good projects these days. What kind of project makes that much money? Mr. Hernandez, you're being unfair. Why didn't you include me?"

"Mr. Hernandez, is it your wife who started some big project?" someone said. "You have a good eye, and your wife is amazing. She's great at investing."

Joseph was speechless, "Stop talking nonsense. My wife isn't involved in any investments right now. She can't even manage the two companies she has. How would she have time for anything else? As for me, I'm swamped with lawsuits. Do you think I have time for projects?"

"Haven't you heard Cassie mention it?" Lucas frowned, finding the situation odd.

"No," Joseph said, frustrated, taking a couple of sips of his drink.

"Mr. Hernandez, maybe your wife didn't tell you," someone said mysteriously.

"So what if she didn't tell me? Everyone has their secrets," Joseph said, putting down his bottle in annoyance. "The key to my good relationship with my wife is that we each pursue our careers without interfering with each other and with mutual respect."

"Alright, everyone was just joking," Lucas patted Joseph's shoulder. "It seems I still don't know Bernice well enough."

Joseph sighed, "Can you stop mentioning Bernice all the time? The Nelson Group has so many issues now, with competitors emerging one after another. Can you spend more time on the company? If you're really bored, you could perform surgeries and treat patients."

"Yeah, Mr. Nelson," Damon agreed. "You wanted to get Bernice before, and it landed you in prison. Now you're obsessed with revenge, and you might end up losing your heart."

"Lose my heart?" Lucas laughed as if he had heard a joke.

Joseph and the others looked at him silently.

Lucas was too arrogant.

He forgot that the human heart is the hardest to control.

Lucas completely ignored the fact that today was his first day out of prison. He should have been working overtime at the company, visiting the hospital, or having dinner with his parents.

But look at what he did tonight.

Revenge on Bernice?

The problem is, he spent five million dollars on Bernice tonight, only for her to throw it in the trash.
