Chapter 36 Want to ruin her
Out of the corner of his eye, Joseph noticed Anthony struggling to get up and trying to sneak away.
He gently set Cassie down, his eyes darkening. "What did you do to her?"
Anthony, terrified, felt his legs go weak and tried to run, but a chair came crashing down from behind, making him unable to get up.
As Joseph got closer, Anthony was filled with fear. "I didn't hurt her. I just tore her clothes when you came in."
"Did you hit her?" Joseph raised his hand and punched Anthony's face until it was swollen like a balloon.
Then Joseph let him go, and a few police officers came in to take Anthony away.
Cassie sat weakly on the bed, watching. After Anthony was taken away, she blacked out and fainted.
Joseph picked her up and hurried out.
Suppressing his anger, he instructed Noah, who had rushed over, "Look into what happened tonight. I don't want to see that man out again."
He then quickly headed to the hospital.
At the Jones Villa, Charlotte felt a bad premonition when the live broadcast was suddenly cut off.
The figure that had appeared in the broadcast looked a bit like Joseph from that day.
She later had someone investigate him. Joseph was just a lawyer.
Although he was a top figure in the legal world, his status was not comparable to that of the Jones family.
At that moment, her phone rang. Someone was calling her. "Ms. Jones, Anthony has been arrested by the police."
"Find a way to bail him out."
"I'm afraid that's not possible. Mr. Collins has made it clear he wants him locked up for life."
Charlotte's heart sank. "Find a way to tell Anthony to keep his mouth shut for the sake of his family."
"Understood."
At the hospital, Cassie woke up from the pain in her face.
She opened her eyes, her mind hazily recalling Joseph's handsome face.
"You're awake," Joseph's voice sounded from beside her.
She turned her head to see Joseph standing up from the sofa, his eyes filled with reproach. "You're a married woman, going to a bar alone to drink. Cassie, do you have any sense?"
She had initially felt a bit touched, but now she felt extremely embarrassed. "Yeah, if you hadn't mentioned it, I would have forgotten I'm married."
Joseph's eyes flashed with anger and amusement. Who had pursued him, confessed, and clung to him back then? Now, with one sentence, she wanted to deny everything.
"You still don't see your mistake. If I hadn't arrived in time, your life would have been ruined. You may not care about your reputation, but I do."
"Don't worry; no one knows I'm married to you." Cassie thought he was concerned about her, but he only cared about his own face.
Joseph was infuriated by her attitude. "So, I shouldn't have saved you, is that it?"
Cassie felt exhausted and didn't want to argue with him anymore.
Joseph looked at her bruised face, feeling a mix of irritation and frustration.
Now that she was silent, it made him even more upset.
The room was quiet for a while until Noah burst in from outside. "What's going on with you two?"
One was sitting silently on the sofa, the other curled up in bed, creating a strange atmosphere.
"What did he say?" Joseph asked coldly.
"He said he was Cassie's high school classmate. He used to like her, but Cassie looked down on him for being ugly and poor. He harbored resentment. When he saw Cassie drinking alone at the bar and heard she had been kicked out by the Brooks family, he took the opportunity to knock her out and try to ruin her," Noah explained.
Joseph frowned and looked at Cassie. "Is that true?"
