Chapter 1035 Daddy, Why Are You Staring At Mommy?

"Sophia!" Cassie heard her daughter call out and saw her running over with a big smile. "Mom, look! Grandma got us a new car. Oliver and I are racing!"

"You two are doing awesome," Cassie said, ruffling Sophia's hair and glancing at Oliver.

Sophia seemed fine, but Oliver had been bouncing between Aiden's place and the Hernandez family's house.

"Oliver, how's it going at the Hernandez's?" Cassie asked, not minding that Joseph was listening.

Joseph looked at Oliver nervously. The Hernandez family had been bending over backward to make him happy lately.

"It's okay," Oliver said, looking up at her.

Cassie was a bit taken aback. Oliver was usually pretty reserved, so if he said it was okay, it meant things were going well.

"That's good." She sighed in relief. Now she could focus on investigating Arthur's death.

"Let's head inside for some barbecue, then we can go swimming," Joseph suggested, walking over.

"Yeah, swimming!" Sophia cheered.

Cassie's face darkened. "Swimming at your age isn't great. The pool water can be dirty and cause infections."

Sophia and Joseph's faces fell, and even Oliver looked unhappy.

"It's a private pool," Joseph explained. "I had the manager fill it with clean water. It'll just be us."

Cassie couldn't argue with that.

As she turned away, frustrated, Joseph winked at Sophia and Oliver, a big smile spreading across his face.

Sophia giggled, and even Oliver's eyes sparkled a bit. He seemed in a good mood.

That evening, they had a barbecue. The chef's skills were top-notch.

Joseph manned the grill while Cassie, Sophia, and Oliver focused on eating.

They ate until they were stuffed. After a half-hour rest, Joseph drove them to the private pool.

When they arrived, the manager had four brand-new swimsuits ready.

Cassie was speechless when she saw hers. She had feared Joseph would get her a sexy bikini, but it was a plain black one-piece, so ugly she was at a loss for words.

Sophia's, on the other hand, was a cute pink floral swimsuit.

"Mom, your swimsuit is so ugly," Sophia complained.

Cassie laughed. "I'm beautiful and have a great figure, so I look good in anything."

Oliver chimed in, "I agree. Mom looks good in anything."

Joseph nodded. "I think your mom is too beautiful, so I picked a more ordinary swimsuit."

A moment later, Cassie came out holding Sophia's hand. Oliver and Joseph were waiting outside. Joseph was in blue swim trunks, showing off his tall, muscular body. He had a great physique, a classic V-shaped torso with well-defined abs, but not overly exaggerated. He exuded a rugged, masculine charm.

Cassie had seen it before, but it had been a while since she'd seen him like this.

She glanced at him and quickly looked away, her cheeks flushing.

She remembered crying in his arms a few days ago.

Joseph was also looking at her intently.

Even though it was an ugly black one-piece swimsuit, Cassie still looked stunning with her hair tied up, highlighting her delicate features. Her curvy figure and slender white legs were hard to miss.

Even after having Sophia and Oliver, Cassie was still a knockout.

She was like fine wine, getting better with age.

"Daddy, why are you staring at Mommy? Let's go swimming." Sophia pouted suddenly.

Sophia's comment made both Joseph and Cassie feel awkward.

Cassie's face turned red, and she shot Joseph a glare before taking Sophia's hand and heading into the pool.

Oliver followed them.

Joseph cleared his throat. "Oliver, I'll teach you how to swim freestyle today."

Oliver could swim, so Joseph took him to the deeper end of the pool. Sophia wasn't a strong swimmer, so Cassie stayed with her in the shallow area.

After a while, Sophia saw Oliver and Joseph swimming like fish and wanted to join them.

"No, you can't swim well. You can't go over there," Cassie said firmly.

"I want to go. I have a float," Sophia insisted.

Cassie felt a headache coming on. Just then, Joseph brought Oliver over. "Sophia, stop fussing. Go play with the water guns with Oliver."

"Yeah, water guns!" Sophia cheered.

Sophia and Oliver started playing with water guns in the pool.

Joseph walked over to Cassie, who was covered in water droplets that slid down her neck.

"Joseph, where are you looking?" Cassie caught his gaze, her face heating up. She glared at him and instinctively tried to cover herself, but her swimsuit didn't reveal anything.

"If I wanted to look, I would have bought you a bikini," Joseph said, wiping water off his face with a mischievous smile. "But I didn't. Oliver is here, and I don't want any other male to see you in a bikini."

So Joseph was wary of Oliver.

Cassie was speechless and didn't even bother to respond.

With Sophia and Oliver occupied, Joseph seized the moment. "Have you calmed down?"

Cassie didn't respond.

Joseph couldn't help but say, "You cried so much for Arthur. He hurt you too. If I were to die unexpectedly, would you cry for me too?"

"No, you didn't die in the elevator accident last time," Cassie retorted lightly.

"Not necessarily. Sometimes people leave without any warning."

"Joseph, can you stop talking about that? We're all having a good time, and you're bringing up such a downer topic," Cassie said irritably, glaring at him.

"Mummy, take this!" Sophia suddenly shot water at her with a water gun.

Seeing the water about to hit her face, Joseph suddenly hugged her, using his back to shield her.

Both Joseph and Cassie were wet, but being held by Joseph, Cassie didn't feel cold. Instead, heat rushed to her head.

"Joseph, what are you doing?" Cassie pushed against his chest.

Joseph looked down mischievously. "Cassie, how does it feel?"

"You pervert." Cassie realized where her hand was and blushed, pushing him away and turning to find Sophia.

Sophia's clear laughter echoed in the pool.
