Chapter 476

Charles exited the room, his demeanor heavy with regret. He had once believed that an alliance with Joseph would catapult the Peace Group's future to unprecedented heights. Unfortunately, this dream had not come to fruition. The company's atmosphere that morning was somber, a pall of gloom hanging over every employee, including the reception staff.

However, around noon, the mood shifted dramatically. A strikingly handsome figure strode into the lobby, his presence so commanding that one might mistake him for a megastar. Upon closer inspection, his chiseled features caused the receptionist to shudder with recognition.

This was the face that had made every woman in Madison swoon, a face that had graced countless TV screens. "Mr.... Joseph...," she stammered.

Joseph's hairstyle was effortlessly cool, adding to his allure. His presence in the Peace Group's office was puzzling. Could he possibly be here to discuss a divorce with their CEO? The thought sent a wave of panic through the receptionist.

"Mr. Joseph, what brings you..." the receptionist, SeSe, approached him hesitantly.

"Don't you see?" Joseph retorted, shaking the lunchbox in his hand. "I'm bringing my wife some lunch."
The receptionist was petrified. Weren't there rumors of a divorce? Yet here was Joseph, personally delivering lunch.

"Where is she?" Joseph asked, lifting an elegant eyebrow.

"She's probably in the cafeteria right now," SeSe managed to reply, barely suppressing her swoon.

Joseph navigated his way to the cafeteria without any hindrance. This was his first visit to the Peace Group. He quickly spotted Cassie, his wife, in the cafeteria. Her custom taupe blazer and long hair swept to one side made her stand out. She was surrounded by several executives, engaged in a light-hearted and amiable conversation. Joseph's brow furrowed as he made his way towards them.

Cassie was deep in a discussion about pricing strategies with the management when the room suddenly fell silent. All eyes were on someone behind her. The women looked star-struck, while the men displayed a mix of fear and respect. Feeling a twinge of alarm, she turned around to face the handsome features of Joseph.

"Sweetheart, I made you a special lunch," Joseph announced, his voice filled with tenderness.

Cassie was about to speak when Charles swiftly interjected. "In that case, Mr. Thompson, you better head up for dinner with Joseph soon."

The marketing director was grinning from ear to ear. "Joseph is so thoughtful, isn't he?"

The public relations manager chimed in, "Joseph's a rare breed of good men. I've never once had a packed lunch made with love from my husband."

Even the head of the cafeteria couldn't help but join in, "Our cafeteria food definitely can't beat Joseph's cooking, Mr. Thompson. Don't let his efforts go to waste."

Cassie was speechless. Whose employees were these, hers or Joseph's?

"Let's go." Joseph wrapped an arm around her waist and whispered in her ear, "You wouldn't want to argue in front of everyone, would you?"

Without a word, Cassie could only follow him upstairs.

Once the door was closed behind them, she crossed her arms, ready to speak, but Joseph had already opened the lunchbox. It was a four-tiered affair: the top layer boasted fried shrimp and vegetables, the second layer held chicken soup, the third was filled with peeled and sliced fruits, and the fourth layer presented rice arranged into their portraitures — his and hers — with details crafted from seaweed, flanked by eggs, carrots, and corn. It was a true work of art.

"Sweetheart, this is you, and this is me," Joseph pointed at the faces in the rice.
