Chapter 1187 I Can Destroy You
Lucas thought, "How long has it been? Seven or eight years? It's been so long that I can barely remember."
Bernice was furious, but she quickly calmed down. She grabbed the clothes from the bed and headed to the bathroom.
Lucas watched her legs under the towel blantly.
Bernice pretended not to notice and walked to the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, unable to go far.
She was so nervous she barely breathed, fearing Lucas might kiss her again like last time.
Before, she had clothes on, but now, if it came to a struggle, she wouldn't stand a chance.
Luckily, Lucas stayed seated the whole time.
Once she was in the bathroom with the door closed, Bernice sighed in relief.
Lucas lit a cigarette, the smoke hiding the desire in his eyes.
He took a deep drag, feeling uncomfortable, and muttered a rare curse.
He never thought he'd get aroused just by seeing a woman's back.
Must be because he hadn't been with a woman in a long time.
He thought he was really pathetic.
Soon, the bathroom door opened, and Bernice came out in a pink striped T-shirt and jeans, looking like a college girl.
"I didn't expect you to wear pink," Lucas blurted out.
"Why can't I wear pink?" Bernice shot back. She rarely wore pink, but a luxury brand sponsored this outfit, and she had to wear it.
Lucas, holding the cigarette, was stunned, his long eyelashes casting a shadow.
Yeah, who said Bernice couldn't wear pink? Her eyes, identical to Nina's, made him project Nina's personality onto her.
In his memory, Nina never wore pink. She was always cold and indifferent, even in her clothes.
"Lucas, I don't care about your past with Dreamscape Entertainment actresses, but next time, knock before entering my room. I just signed a contract; I didn't sell myself to you. Give me some privacy."
"Why did I barge in? You know why." Lucas put his legs on the table, his eyes unreadable. "Bernice, you're cunning. You made that bet with Callie in front of everyone. You outshone Sarah and even Curtis. You wanted to show Callie you're a perfect actress. Callie couldn't lose you, but if she kept you, you'd steal the spotlight from Sarah. So, Callie had to let Sarah go. Sarah didn't want to be overshadowed by you, so she left."
"Well, I wanted to play the second female lead well, but your fiancée Sarah bribed the crew to give me trouble on the first day." Bernice calmly packed her things, ready to check out and return to Whisperlyn City.
"Honestly, Sarah's the future Mrs. Nelson. She doesn't like me. Last time she saw me coming out of your office looking a mess, she already saw me as a rival. If we could finish this movie peacefully, I'd be fine playing the second lead to support her. But she kept targeting me." Bernice looked up, meeting Lucas's gaze. "Sorry, I can't always be patient and back down. The more I retreat, the more people enjoy bullying me. Besides, if her acting sucks, is that my fault?"
"You dare badmouth my fiancée in front of me?" Lucas unbuttoned his collar, looking sinister.
"I'm just telling the truth. If you want insincerity, find someone else," Bernice said calmly. "She's not completely useless, right? Maybe she's great in bed; otherwise, why would you marry her?"
"Are you mocking me for thinking with my desires?" Lucas stood up, walked over, and pinched her chin with a fake smile.
He noticed the soft flesh under her jaw felt incredibly good to touch.
When he pinched her chin up, her red lips curled slightly, looking so sexy he wanted to kiss them.
Bernice held her breath. At such a close distance, she could clearly feel the change in Lucas's pupils and the dangerous aura from him. But the more dangerous it felt, the less she dared to act rashly. "No, I just think you might care more about physical pleasure than love."
"You really understand me." Lucas approached with a wicked smile.
Bernice retreated until she fell back onto the bed.
Lucas bent down, pressing his hands on either side of her, maintaining an ambiguous posture. "Bernice, you forgot, Sarah is still my fiancée. Forcing Callie to let her go is humiliating me. In Madison, anyone who dares to humiliate me no longer exists."
"So?" Bernice looked at him calmly.
Lucas felt a faint sense of powerlessness. Usually, his looks and status made women blush and their hearts race. But Bernice seemed cold-hearted. "I can destroy you."
After a long pause, he said, "But if you spend a night with me, maybe I'll let it go."
Bernice lowered her eyes, a deep mockery flashing in them.
Lucas was the man she once deeply loved, but now he made her sick.
"If I were willing, I wouldn't have resisted in the office last time." Bernice shook her head. "Mr. Nelson, you and Nina were a couple before, right?"
Lucas's body stiffened; Nina was a thorn in his heart.
"But I heard that when Nina was arrested, you found a lawyer and sent her to prison." Bernice pushed his hand away, her eyes cold. "I haven't been in touch with Nina for a long time, but I always remember her. She was my childhood friend. Sorry, I can't be with a man who was with my friend. It makes me uncomfortable. I'd rather have nothing."
