Chapter 1118 I'm Not Talking to You Anymore

Cassie awkwardly brushed her hair. "Don't let what she said get to you. Honestly, I feel okay right now."

She felt like strangling Laura, who always managed to stir up trouble with her words.

"What do you mean 'okay'?" Joseph looked up, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

Cassie realized she’d been tricked, glared at him, and got out of bed. "I'm done talking to you."

"Don't." Joseph quickly wrapped his arms around her waist, sounding a bit down. "Laura wasn't entirely wrong. If I never get better, would you leave me, Cassie?"

Cassie replied seriously, "Joseph, my decision to stay or leave has nothing to do with this. If I cared about this, I wouldn't have gotten back together with you. We can't predict future. You said sweet things before, but we still broke up. I've been through too much; I only care about the present."

Joseph was silent for a moment. "I get it. It's my fault for not making you feel secure. But I have a lifetime to prove it."

After a pause, he whispered in her ear, "But I'll still try to get better soon. I know it's important to you."

Cassie turned around, blushing.

"Cassie, my case with Megan goes to court again tomorrow. Will you come and watch?" Joseph asked with a smile.

"No, I'm busy."

"Come on, it's my first case since we got back together. Don't you want to see Megan lose and get flustered? Plus, I look my best in court," Joseph coaxed.

Annoyed by his persistence, Cassie finally agreed.

The next day, when she mentioned she was going to watch Joseph's case, Laura was indifferent. "Didn't Megan have the upper hand last time? Joseph will probably lose. Are you going to comfort him?"

"No, he's definitely going to win this time."

"You haven't even remarried, and you're already so devoted to him."

"No, there's a real reason, but I can't tell you right now." Cassie didn't want to reveal too much.

"Really?" Laura got excited. "Then I want to go too. I want to see Megan's face when she loses ten billion dollars."

"Alright, I'll pick you up." Cassie knew Laura hated Megan, so she agreed.

Half an hour later, Cassie drove to Riverside Blossom and waited over ten minutes, but Laura still hadn't come down. She called, "Ms. Miller, how much longer?"

"Don't rush me. I'm still curling my hair."

Cassie was speechless. "We're going to court, not a party."

"I know," Laura said, "I'm just worried Michael might be there. You know, Megan is the woman he loves most. I have to look my best, even if I'm pregnant, I can't look bad and let him look down on me."

"You're overthinking it. Michael is still in the hospital."

"Not necessarily. His obsession with Megan is deep. Alright, see you."

"Hurry up," Cassie said, but the call cut off before she finished.

She waited another ten minutes before Laura finally showed up. Cassie had to admit, Laura's outfit was on point. Her thick, long hair flowed behind her, her mixed-race-like face looked clean and natural without foundation, and her lips were painted with tomato-red lipstick.

Laura wore a blue denim jumpsuit with a brown belt around her waist and carried a new season's white Burberry bag, showing off her long legs.

As she walked out of the complex, men kept turning their heads to look at her, and one young guy even walked into a tree because he was staring too hard.

Cassie watched silently until Laura opened the car door and got in.

"You don't look like you're almost three months pregnant at all," Cassie teased.

"The belly isn't that big yet. When it gets bigger, it won't be as easy to dress nicely." Laura sighed and brushed her long hair. "How do I look? Am I beautiful?"

Cassie was silent.

"Are you speechless because of my beauty?" Laura playfully winked.

"Laura, you dressed up so beautifully. Are you trying to make Michael regret it? But you don't even like Michael. Don't act like you were abandoned by him and now want him to regret it," Cassie teased.

"No. His attitude towards me was worse than abandoning me," Laura said angrily. "That idiot, forcing me to get an abortion for Megan, makes me furious. I wouldn't mind losing to you, but I can't stand losing to that wicked witch Megan."

"Then why did you act like you didn't care when the Jude family asked for your opinion?" Cassie asked.

"I'm not stupid. The Jude family sided with me because they knew I was the victim. They treat me well, but that doesn't mean I'm more important than Michael. After all, I'm not part of the Jude family. They want Michael back, partly because they made a public statement and don't want to lose face, and partly because they don't want me to feel uncomfortable. However, if I had firmly opposed Michael coming back, the Jude family would have had an issue with me too, so I couldn't make the decision."

Cassie looked at her with admiration. "You've gotten smarter."

"Of course," Laura said, then suddenly frowned, "When was I ever not smart?"

"I used to think you were quite innocent," Cassie said. "But don't wear too much makeup while pregnant."

"Don't worry. I developed this myself." Laura handed her a small bag. "It's not on the market yet. You're the only one in Madison who has it."

"Really?" Cassie widened her eyes. Everyone loves beauty, and she was no exception.

"Does my makeup look natural today?" Laura raised an eyebrow.

Cassie immediately opened the small bag and eagerly started examining Laura's makeup products, so much so that she forgot she was going to court until Joseph called, "Cassie, are you here yet? The trial starts in ten minutes."
