Chapter 69
"But after a moment, Joseph lowered his head and ate it.
""Keep feeding me,"" he said.
Cassie wondered, ""Why does he need me to feed him when he has hands?""
But because of her guilty conscience, she obediently fed him the whole plate.
After eating his fill, Joseph got up. ""Let's go home.""
Cassie was speechless. ""Go back? Now?""
It was not even eight o'clock yet, and if they left now, he would definitely suspect her.
""You can stay if you don't want to leave,"" he casually suggested. In fact, he was just going through the motions. To put it plainly, apart from Grandpa Collins, no one else was worth his time today.
Seeing that he insisted on leaving, Cassie had no choice but to follow him. After getting into the car, she took out the gift box Grandpa Collins had given her and handed it to him.
""You hold onto it yourself,"" Joseph said indifferently.
""But it's valuable. It wouldn't be appropriate.""
""It's only valuable to you."" He smiled cryptically, implying that she didn't have money.
Cassie lowered her head, knowing that a storm was coming. She felt anxious and uneasy. ""I'm sorry, Joseph. I will treat you well in the future, so just submit to me,"" she thought.
After getting home, Joseph took a shower and sat in his study for a video conference.
Halfway through, he suddenly felt very hot.
""Mr. Hernandez, are you alright? Your face looks flushed,"" said his subordinate on the other end, sounding concerned.
""I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable. Let's discuss this tomorrow. Keep an eye on things with the family for me,"" Joseph replied.
He shut down the computer and went directly to the bedroom to take a cold shower. Even he knew he had been affected by something.
But he didn't eat anything tonight. How could this happen?
Wait, he did eat the food that Cassie fed him.
A layer of anger spread across his face.
Damn! How dare she?
The bathroom door was kicked open, startling Cassie, who was laying sheets on the floor.
She watched as a wet Joseph walked out, his face red with a menacing expression.
Is he having an outbreak?
""What... What's wrong with you?"" she stammered, shrinking back and suddenly feeling afraid.
""Did you put something in the food?"" Joseph grabbed her arm and dragged her up from the ground.
Cassie's eyes trembled. She didn't expect him to realize it so quickly. ""I... I don't know what you're talking about.""
""You still won't admit it."" Joseph grabbed her neck. His eyes were filled with disgust. ""Besides you, who else had the chance?""
Cassie could barely breathe. She never expected Joseph to react this terrifyingly. This version of him scared her.
""It... It was me. I did it. I'm sorry!""
