Chapter 1242 Everett Actually Knows Cassie

Joseph acted like he didn't hear a thing and just kept walking over to hug her.

Cassie kept pushing him away, and they were wrestling in the dark.

In the end, Joseph's strength won out. He yanked her into his arms, dipped his head, and kissed her hard.

"Joseph, I'm not... kidding," Cassie struggled to dodge, finally managing to block his face with her hand.

"Cassie, do you really think if I don't stick around to deal with Olivia and her crew, you can just skip town with Sophia and Oliver and Olivia won't come after you?" Joseph's voice was all rough. "I talked to Carl a few days ago. Olivia's crew isn't that strong in Madison, but if you go abroad, you're on their turf. Crushing you would be a piece of cake. Even my dad couldn't protect you, so I gotta take them out while we're still here. Get it?"

Cassie was stunned. She got it.

Was Joseph planning to use himself to trade for the safety of her, Sophia, and Oliver?

"Then I'll stay, and you go," she choked out, "I won't take care of your grandparents and parents for you. For the past few years, I've been the one taking care of Sophia and Oliver. You haven't done squat as a dad."

"Cassie, listen to me. Sophia and Oliver need you more than they need me." Joseph cupped her face.

Cassie couldn't see him clearly, her eyes all teary. "Celeste was right. I shouldn't have come to the Hernandez family, and you shouldn't have met me."

"Cut it out, Cassie. As for Olivia, I don't regret a thing. From the start, she was the one hurting you. She hurt your grandma and Nina. She deserves everything coming to her," Joseph cut her off firmly.

Cassie was almost breaking down. "Why is the world so messed up? She's so evil, yet people still help her like crazy. What did we do wrong?"

Joseph looked sad. "Cassie, listen to me. I've hurt you so much before. You don't need to throw away your future with Sophia and Oliver for me."

He finished talking and kissed her hard, like it was the last kiss.

Cassie didn't push him away this time but hugged him tight until he carried her to the bed.

The two figures on the bed were tangled up tight.

The next day, when Cassie woke up, Joseph had already changed and walked out of the closet.

He was dressed in a royal blue suit, looking sharp and dignified.

Cassie couldn't help but feel a slight pain in her heart. "Don't go to the company today."

Olivia was already so full of herself with just fifty percent of the shares. If she had gotten Celeste and Isaac's shares yesterday, she'd be even worse today.

If Joseph went now, he'd definitely get humiliated by her.

"Cassie, I have to go. All the employees at the Hernandez group were personally trained by me. I can't let them get stomped on." Joseph resolutely touched her hair. "Pack your things and leave tomorrow. I've already talked to my dad. You'll take his private jet. No one knows yet that I'm the son of the chairman of the Garrison group."

Cassie unconsciously gripped the bed sheet until Joseph kissed her forehead and left.

In the empty bedroom, she bit her lip and finally pulled out her phone to dial a number. "Everett, I need to meet Declan. Tell him he owes me one."

Everett was shocked. He knew about Olivia's antics, but he couldn't really step in. Wanting to help Cassie, he quickly agreed, "Alright, I'll talk to my dad."

He had just woken up.

He rushed downstairs to the study to find Declan. "Dad, Cassie just called. She said you owe her a favor and wants to meet."

Declan got it. He had once promised to save a life for her.

He didn't expect her to call in that favor so soon.

Everett saw Declan's uncertain look and couldn't help but grumble, "Dad, you know by now, right? Mom spent a fortune to hire the Zoller team for Olivia and dropped billions to buy the Hernandez group. She's lost it."

Declan rubbed his temples. He had only recently found out. Isabella had moved so fast, even he was caught off guard.

Everett got more worked up. "How could Mom do something so crazy just to humiliate Joseph? Sure, she has money, and the Wittelsbach family has money, but she can't just blow it like this. And she put all the Hernandez group shares in Olivia's name. It's not that I care about the assets, but she hasn't even known Olivia that long."

Declan gave Everett a complicated look.

Everett rarely complained about these things, so it was clear he was really upset.

Declan stood up and patted Everett's shoulder. "I can't say much. Your mom's been really critical of me lately. You should try talking to her."

Everett nodded. "Will you see Cassie?"

Declan replied, "Yeah, I promised her, and I'm curious to see what she''s up to."

Everett left the study, then went back to his room and called Cassie, "Cassie, my dad agreed. He can meet you this afternoon."

He didn't know that as he went in, Olivia, who was sleeping next door, came out and saw him take out his phone and go back in.

She walked over and pressed her ear to the door, hearing everything he said.

Olivia thought, 'Everett actually knows Cassie. How could this be? Is Cassie going to ask Declan for help? No way, I can't let Cassie pull this off.'

It seemed she had to stir things up in the Wittelsbach family. After all, most of the Hernandez group shares were now in her name.

In the afternoon, Isabella was taking a nap. She was groggy when she suddenly heard a knock on the door.

"Mom, you were sleeping," Olivia said, pretending to be surprised. "I just saw Declan go out and thought you went with him."

Isabella hadn't been sleeping well lately, and being woken up made her head feel foggy. Hearing Olivia's words, she felt even more irritated.

Before coming to Madison, Declan would tell her everything, even if they were fighting. He would come to make up with her immediately, and they had never slept apart for more than three days.

However, now, he didn't come to make up with her, and he didn't even tell her when he went out.

Isabella felt very uncomfortable.
