Chapter 1024 I Am Your Biological Father

Despite all the terrible things he'd done, Joseph still had two adorable kids.

The more he thought about it, the more his eyes filled with tears.

"What's up with you?" Sophia asked, scared by his look.

Joseph squatted down, gently flicked her forehead, and whispered, "You're sneaky."

Sophia touched her forehead, confused. "What are you talking about? I'm not sneaky; I'm a fairy."

Joseph chuckled, his eyes twinkling like stars.

It was the first time Sophia had seen him smile so brightly, and she stared in awe.

Joseph reached out and pinched her chubby cheeks. "You knew I was your dad all along."

Thinking back, he realized Sophia rarely told the truth.

She always mentioned Cassie's name, so she had to know Cassie was her mom.

Yet, Sophia had kept it from him.

Sophia was stunned, her big round eyes wide open. The usually clever girl was completely bewildered.

She couldn't understand how this jerk had found out such a secret.

"Your mommy told me," Joseph lied again, seeing her reaction.

"Mommy, that traitor." Sophia stomped her foot. "She didn't even give me a heads-up."

Joseph thought about how Sophia had played the poor motherless child in front of him many times. She was indeed a drama queen.

But it was good Sophia was sneaky. She wouldn't be bullied in the future; she'd be the one doing the bullying.

"Tell me, you knew I was your dad all along. Why didn't you acknowledge me?" Joseph looked at her, feeling hurt. "You'd rather call Liam dad than call me that."

Sophia rolled her eyes at him. "Please, jerk, think about the things you've done. If Great-grandma hadn't found me when I was injured and sent me to the hospital, I wouldn't have even thought about returning to the Hernandez family."

Joseph's face changed. He remembered that when he first met Sophia, her head was injured. "Didn't you accidentally hurt your head?"

"No, someone broke into mommy's house. When I hid in a box, they smashed it with a steel rod and hit my head, making it bleed." Sophia glared at him hatefully. "Mommy said those thugs were sent by Nathan. I hated you so much back then."

The more Joseph listened, the more shocked and ashamed he felt.

He knew Nathan had trashed Cassie's house. That morning, Cassie had stormed into Seaside Haven in a rage, even losing control and trying to confront Megan. But he had protected Megan that day.

It turned out Nathan had not only destroyed Cassie's home but also injured Sophia's head.

As a father, he had not only failed to protect his child but had also shielded the perpetrator.

Joseph's face was filled with embarrassment.

"Sophia, I'm sorry. It's my fault." Joseph grabbed her little hand and made her hit his face.

"You treated Megan like a treasure and even wanted to marry her. I completely lost faith in you as a dad."

"So, has Oliver lost faith in me too?" Joseph asked, feeling dejected.

Sophia panicked. "You even know about Oliver?"

"Sophia, you can refuse to acknowledge me, but you can't stop me from making amends," Joseph said softly. "Give me a chance, and I'll be a good dad."

Sophia pouted. "I don't have much choice. I live with you now. But Oliver will never like you; he hates you."

Those words cut Joseph deep.

So, Oliver had known all along that Joseph was his dad too.

Just then, he saw a stranger leading Oliver out of the kindergarten.

He guessed it must be Aiden's nephew, Cole. During his investigation, he found out that Oliver's kindergarten records listed Cole as his father.

"Oliver." Joseph quickly walked over, holding Sophia's hand.

Oliver glanced at him without expression and then hurried to catch up with Cole.

"Oliver, I want to talk to you," Joseph said as he approached, but Cole immediately blocked him.

"Mr. Hernandez, please don't disturb my son," Cole said defensively, glaring at him.

"He's my son," Joseph said seriously, studying Oliver, who bore a resemblance to Cassie.

Sophia and Oliver—Sophia's features resembled his, but her temperament was like Cassie's. Oliver's features were like Cassie's, but his temperament was probably like his own.

Cole frowned, and Oliver suddenly looked up, saying coldly, "I have nothing to do with you. I don't even know you."

With that, he pulled Cole to leave.

Joseph felt bitter but stubbornly followed. "Oliver, it's normal for you to hate me, but we should sit down and talk. Don't you have anything to say to me?"

"I have nothing to say to a stranger," Oliver said firmly, his delicate eyebrows furrowed tightly.

"I'm not a stranger. I'm your biological father. We share the same blood, and that's an unchangeable fact." Joseph stubbornly blocked his way.

Their argument had already attracted the attention of many parents picking up their children from the kindergarten.

"Mommy," Sophia suddenly called out.

Joseph and Oliver turned around to see Cassie hurriedly getting out of a car, wearing a stylish little black dress, her thick curly hair cascading over her shoulders, looking cold and stunning.

Oliver's gaze softened a bit.

"Cassie, you're just in time," Cole said, looking at Joseph with difficulty. "He says he's Oliver's Dad."

"Cole, thank you for everything these days. You can go now; I'll take care of Oliver," Cassie thanked him and then familiarly picked up Oliver.

"Alright, I'll go then." Cole waved and left.

Cassie glanced at Joseph, who was holding Sophia.

This scene puzzled the parents nearby.

A beautiful woman holding a son who looked just like her, and a handsome man holding a daughter who looked just like him—it was clear they were biological.

"What's going on?"

"I heard that boy is that man's biological son?"

People started whispering.

Cassie glared at Joseph. "Let's leave here first and talk later."

She quickly got into her car with Oliver.

Joseph also quickly got into the back seat with Sophia.

Cassie gritted her teeth. "Joseph, didn't you drive yourself?"

"I did, but I want to spend more time with Oliver and Sophia," Joseph said, smiling happily.

He never thought he would live to sit in a car with the woman he loved and his children. It felt pretty good.
