Chapter 1547 Cassie, Get Out Here!

"Just go to sleep, I'll call the car service at Silverwood. They'll pick up the car, fix it, and bring it back. No need to stress," Derek said.

"No need, I'll have my driver handle it," Laura replied.

"No, let me take care of it. You went out driving at night because of me. I just started this boyfriend gig, and I need to do it right. If I don't, what if you fire me?" Derek joked, "I'm walking on eggshells here."

He kept calling himself her boyfriend.

Laura had to accept that she had indeed agreed to date Derek in a moment of confusion.

This seemed to be the most chaotic year of her life.

This year, she got married, had a baby, got divorced, and found a new boyfriend.

A legendary life, she was almost impressed with herself.

Thinking about it, she suddenly felt a bit excited.

Around midnight, Cassie posted in their Facebook group: [Merry Christmas! I hope my two besties find someone they like this year, and we all become super rich together.]

Bernice: [I wish you all happiness and that all your wishes come true.]

Cassie: [Bernice, you might not need a boyfriend, but you still need to take care of your sexual needs. Otherwise, those long nights can get lonely.]

Bernice: [Shut up.]

Laura: [Cassie, it seems you are quite lonely when Joseph isn't around.]

Cassie: [Not really.]

Laura: [Is that so?]

Cassie: [Come on, ladies, go find yourselves a young man.]

Bernice: [Are you speaking from your heart? Should I tell Joseph?]

Cassie: [No, please. I might not be able to get out of bed tomorrow.]

Laura: [Alright, stop showing off.]

Laura: [I have a big secret to tell you all. I just got a boyfriend, just now.]

Bernice: [What?]

Cassie: [I'm shocked. You really agreed to him.]

Bernice: [Are you referring to Derek?]

Laura: [Bernice, how did you know?]

Bernice: [At the celebration dinner, Cassie posted a picture of you and Levi on Facebook. Not long after, Derek showed up. Wasn't she trying to provoke Derek?]

Laura: [What? Cassie, get out here.]

Cassie: [You should thank me. If I hadn't taken the initiative, you would have seen him getting too close to another woman and gotten jealous. Look, I forced him to confess first. It's better than you confessing to him, right?]

Laura: [No way, I would never confess to him. That's impossible.]

Cassie: [Should I post those pictures of you being absent-minded at work recently? I didn't want to say anything, but you were staring at your phone the whole time during our meal. I felt like I was invisible.]

Bernice: [So pitiful.]

Laura: [I wasn't, I really wasn't.]

Cassie: [Alright, let's not argue about this. Anyway, no matter what happened, congratulations. Enjoy the happiness this relationship brings.]

Bernice: [Derek is handsome, has a great body, and should be good in bed.]

Laura: [Stop, Bernice. We just started dating, and his status is a big problem. If the Jude family finds out, I'll be in big trouble.]

Cassie: [Who cares? Enjoy the relationship first. You haven't really had a proper relationship. With Michael, it didn't count. You pursued Benjamin, and then Isla got involved. That wasn't a real relationship; your dates were always with three people. It was a mess.]

Laura: [I can't even argue with that.]

Bernice: [Boyfriends are there to be used. You can be as demanding as you want. If you break up, just find another one.]

Cassie: [You finally got divorced. Of course, you should enjoy being cherished and pampered.]

Bernice: [Ask Derek to take care of the kid for four or five years to check if he's fit to be a good father. If not, you can dump him.]

Cassie: [That makes sense.]

By now, it was past midnight.

Derek sent a money transfer and said, "Baby, Merry Christmas. I love you."

A simple sentence, but Laura was moved.

Laura thought of what Cassie had said earlier and felt she was really pitiful. She had been married and had a long-term first love, but during holidays, only Derek had sent her such a message.

Definitely, she was divorced. It was time for her to enjoy a relationship.

Laura accepted the money transfer graciously and replied, [Got it.]

Derek: [Love you.]

Laura smiled. She then received many Christmas wishes from friends, colleagues, and relatives.

The Christmas seemed pretty good.

Of course, if Michael hadn't suddenly called, her good mood wouldn't have been ruined. "If you want to talk to Maeve, sorry, she can't talk and she is already asleep."

"I want to video call and see her," Michael said in a low voice. "Add me on Facebook, and I'll transfer some money for her."

Since the divorce, Laura had deleted all of Michael's contact information.

"No need," Laura said impatiently, "When I take Maeve to visit your parents, you can see her then."

"I'm Maeve's biological father, Laura. Can you stop being so childish?" Michael's angry voice came through.

"Sounds touching. Maeve has been away from you for months, and you didn't send any child support," Laura said, feigning shock.

"Alright," Michael said, blushing from the sarcasm. "I wanted to get Maeve's custody back then. Now, I'm paying you because it's my responsibility. My work and life have been a mess because of you. This year, I spent Christmas at the Jude Estate, and my parents didn't even treat me well. The Ocean Blue group lost a lot of resources because of you. Laura, do you hate me that much?"

"You're wronging me. Your bad reputation made women boycott the Ocean Blue group. What could I do? Besides, it's not just me taking your resources," Laura pouted, "I'm not in the mood to argue with you. Goodbye."
