Chapter 18 Is there no one left?

Laura also recognized Joseph.

Charlotte, Olivia, and Sarah, who had been watching the scene unfold, fixed their gazes on Joseph. They had never seen such an exceptional appearance and aura before.

They all wondered who he was.

Joseph frowned slightly, his gaze falling on the manager. "Is this how you usually treat women?"

The manager was already trembling with fear. Although he didn't know Joseph, the man's powerful presence and the fact that Noah was with him—someone no one in Silverwood dared to cross—left him at a loss.

Just as he was unsure what to do, Charlotte stepped forward with a smile. "Mr. Collins, he must be your friend. I had reserved a private room tonight to entertain two friends, but Ms. Miller and Ms. Brooks insisted we give it up to them."

"Charlotte, have you no shame? The private room was clearly our reservation. It was you three who were bullying us," Laura retorted.

The manager said sarcastically, "Mr. Collins, I was following the restaurant's rules. These two were causing trouble, so I had no choice."

Olivia added softly, "Cassie, I know you don't like me, but there's no need to make things difficult for the manager."

Cassie sneered. "Don't you find yourself disgusting?"

Noah was helpless because of the women's chatter.

Joseph glanced at Olivia, knowing that she looked delicate but was clearly a scheming woman.

"This is the place you've been recommending to me?" Joseph's deep voice was filled with undisguised sarcasm. "A restaurant manager who curries favor and disregards basic rules—what qualifies him to hold a management position?"

Cassie's eyes lit up. She looked up, incredulous, at Joseph.

She had thought Joseph hated her to the core and would never help her.

Joseph caught her expression and felt displeased.

He thought, 'What kind of look is that? Does she think I can't tell right from wrong?'

"Mr. Collins," the manager was completely flustered, looking nervously at Charlotte.

Charlotte hadn't expected Joseph to help Cassie either. She quickly said, "Mr. Collins, your friend might not be familiar with Cassie and Laura's true nature."

Noah squinted his eyes, revealing a row of white teeth as he smiled. "I don't know Laura well, but I've heard of Cassie. She's recognized as the most beautiful socialite in Silverwood. She got into Silverwood University at sixteen and returned last year with a master's degree to work diligently at Height Architectural Decoration Company. She's not like you, always flitting from party to party like a social butterfly."

The term "social butterfly" hit Charlotte and her friends like a slap in the face.

After a long pause, Sarah forced a smile. "Mr. Collins, attending parties is a way for family heirs to expand their networks."

She implied that someone like Cassie, who wasn't an heir, didn't need to attend parties frequently.

Joseph's eyes narrowed, a flash of coldness passing through them.

Noah sneered. "Who do you think you are, talking to me like that?"

Sarah's face turned deathly pale.

Olivia smiled bitterly. "Mr. Collins, why make things difficult for us weak women?"

"You brought this on yourselves. Who can you blame?" Noah mocked. "Let's not even mention that Ms. Jones only got into college because the Jones family paid for it. Ms. Olivia Brooks, with no education or resume, is set to inherit a listed company. Is the Brooks family reduced to such a miserable state?"
