Chapter 1241 Breaking Up with You Tonight

Joseph and Cassie rolled up to the Hernandez House, still bickering like cats and dogs.

Cassie stormed out of the car, slamming the door, and stomped ahead.

Joseph sighed, watching her for a sec before trailing behind.

Just as they hit the front door, they heard Celeste's voice booming from inside, "Cassie, Olivia called me. This whole mess is on you. The Hernandez group got investigated 'cause of you, and Joseph kept it under wraps. If I were you, I'd step up and calm Olivia down. Don't drag our century-old family name through the mud."

Cassie froze in the living room, her back stiff and shaking a bit.

Joseph jumped in, "Look, this ain't something she can just fix by stepping up. Olivia's gunning for me. I tossed her into a nightclub to teach her a lesson, but she slipped away. Who knows what she's been up to overseas all these years."

"Yeah, but if you hadn't known her, we wouldn't be in this Olivia mess. Right, Isaac?" Celeste shot a look at Isaac.

Isaac looked ticked off, but his wife Yvonne stepped up first, eyes all teary.

"I'm with Celeste on this. I've had it up to here. Since she showed up, the Hernandez family hasn't had a moment's peace. Richard's still sick, and who knows if we'll even afford his medical bills soon."

She turned to Cassie, looking all pained. "Please, go find Olivia and sort your mess. Don't drag us down. Richard's already out of it. If something happens to us, what's he gonna do?"

Cassie's throat tightened listening to Yvonne.

Was this all on her?

Maybe she shouldn't have gotten back with Joseph.

"Yvonne, enough. I've said it before, even if I hadn't gotten back with her, Olivia would still be after me." Joseph stepped in front of Cassie, his voice heated. "If you're fed up, then leave. I'll handle everything with the Hernandez group."

"And how exactly are you gonna handle it? If we leave, all we got is some cash and the Hernandez group shares." Yvonne snapped, "Unless we sell our shares to Olivia like the other shareholders."

"She's right," Celeste chimed in. "I got eight percent of the shares, and Olivia offered me four billion dollars. That's a crazy amount."

Yvonne nodded. "Yeah, that money's enough for us to leave Madison and live easy. Richard can get treated by top docs abroad."

Joseph looked at his family, feeling crushed. "So Olivia's been trying to buy you out too."

"She hit us up today," Celeste admitted reluctantly, "And other shareholders called me too. We can't fight her. If we hold onto the shares, the Hernandez group might tank next month, and our shares will be worthless. Now's the best time to sell."

"Shut up!" Walter couldn't take it anymore and chucked a cup at her. "Did I give you those shares to blow? Do you even get what position Joseph will be in at the company if you sell them?"

Celeste dodged, tears streaming. "Dad, get real. I'm still young. Even if I don't sell, Joseph can't hold on."

Walter's fingers shook with rage.

He finally turned to Isaac, who'd been quiet. "Isaac, what do you think?"

"Dad, I just want more money. With such a high offer, we can use the funds to build another Hernandez group abroad," Isaac stammered.

"Bastard! Do you know the buyer wants to humiliate the Hernandez family? For money, you're willing to ditch your dignity and pride?" Walter banged his cane in frustration.

"Grandpa," Joseph stepped forward, gently patting Walter's back. "Let them be. They have their own families and kids. Everyone's got their own choices."

Celeste and Isaac, seeing Joseph agree, both sighed in relief.

But Celeste still muttered, "We didn't want to sell, but we were forced. Who told him to get involved with someone as powerful as Cassie?"

"Get out," Walter snapped, raising his cane. "Since you've sold the Hernandez family's assets, don't come back."

"Dad, why don't you and Mom come with us?" Isaac hesitated.

"I'd rather die than go with someone who sells off the family heritage," Walter fumed.

"Let's go," Yvonne gave Isaac a look, pulling him along.

Mabel, who'd been silent the whole time, sat in a chair, still recovering from her last injury. After they left, she asked, "Joseph, what's the plan?"

"After talking with Cassie, you and she will take Grandparents, Sophia, and Oliver to Yugrot. I'll join you after handling things here," Joseph said calmly.

Cassie gave him a complicated look.

She could see right through his thoughts.

"I never thought the Hernandez family would end up so divided," Walter sighed deeply.

Mildred comforted him, "As long as we're all together, it's okay."

During dinner, Sophia and Oliver came back from kindergarten.

Mabel called them over, "Sophia, Oliver, do you want to go live in Yugrot with us?"

"Why are we leaving suddenly?" Sophia asked, confused. "Where's Yugrot? Is it far?"

"Yeah, pretty far," Joseph said gently, "It's where Grandpa stays."

"Will you and Mom go too?" Oliver asked anxiously.

Joseph ruffled his hair. "Yeah."

"Then it's okay," Sophia smiled brightly. "As long as we're all together, it doesn't matter where we go."

Cassie tightened her grip on her fork.

That night, after Sophia and Oliver were asleep, Joseph came out of the shower and saw Cassie standing by the floor-to-ceiling window.

Cassie wore a white nightgown, her long hair draped over her shoulders, smelling sweet.

"Are you waiting for me?" Joseph walked over and reached out to hug her.

But Cassie pushed him away. "Joseph, if you don't come with me, then I'm breaking up with you tonight."
