Chapter 1489 Who Cares About You Marrying Me
The nurse jumped, startled.
She quickly hit the button to call for help.
Outside, Michael heard a bunch of doctors rushing to Megan's room, and a bad feeling hit him hard. He hurried back to the ward.
Megan was lying on the bed, and the doctors were checking her heartbeat. Her face was as pale as a ghost, and there was a pool of blood on the floor.
"What the hell is going on?"
Michael had already been in a terrible mood, and seeing Megan's condition getting worse made him even more frantic and helpless.
Megan was so mad she couldn't speak; she just glared at Michael.
The nurse beside her was shaking as she spoke, "She got so angry after finding out about the change in the Jude Group's shares that she vomited blood."
The nurse saw that Megan was too angry to speak and half-truthfully revealed the situation.
In fury, Michael glared at the nurse and shouted, "Was it you who told her? Why did you tell her these things?"
The nurse's face turned red, and her eyes filled with tears. Normally, she wouldn't have dared to talk back to Michael, but now she couldn't help but retort, "She humiliated me first. Her veins are too thin, and I missed the first time. She used her status to call the head nurse, who is very busy. Not everyone has to revolve around her."
Michael kicked over the chair in front of him. His chest was heaving in rage, and it all exploded at that moment. "Your head nurse had time yesterday, the day before, but not today. You saw the news and know I'm no longer the heir to the Jude Group, right? You bunch of snobs, even if I'm not the heir, I can still crush you with money and get you fired with a single word."
The young nurse started trembling, not out of fear but anger.
She was barely in her twenties and had just graduated, valued her dignity more than her job.
Seeing the situation escalating, a doctor in charge of the rescue scolded the young nurse, "Mr. Jude is right. Apologize to Miss Ray and leave."
The doctor gave the young nurse a look.
But Michael was relentless. "Get her out of here. I don't want to see her in this hospital."
"Michael, this is a hospital, not your home."
Lucas walked in with his hands in his pockets. "Every employee here has a contract. If you say they committed medical malpractice, it's reasonable to fire them. But firing a nurse over a verbal dispute is not."
Michael sneered, "Lucas, you're just like everyone else. You think that since I lost my inheritance rights to the Jude Group, I'm not worthy of being your friend anymore, right?"
Lucas frowned, observing Michael. It had been a while since they last met, and his childhood friend, Michael, now had eyes full of anger and paranoia.
Lucas felt a bit disappointed. How had Michael become like this?
Of course, the old Michael wouldn't have demanded someone be fired over such a trivial matter.
"Michael, I think you misunderstood. I heard about this and came to check on you." Lucas shrugged and asked the doctor, "How is the patient?"
The doctor explained, "She had an internal examination yesterday. She just got overly angry. Miss Ray needs to chill out, relax, and get some rest."
Lucas got it but still walked over to comfort Megan, "Miss Ray, even though Michael lost the Jude Group, it means the Jude Family won't be meddling in your lives anymore. After all the ups and downs, you two can finally be together. It's like a dream come true. Even if you have some mobility issues, Michael's a loyal guy and will take good care of you."
Megan wasn't having it; she almost lost it again out of anger. She didn't like Michael at all. She wanted to be the wife of the Jude Family's leader, to be surrounded by high society and influential people.
Now, all of that was gone.
Michael held her hand and tried to comfort her, "Megan, don't think you dragged me down. I never blamed you. I've realized the Jude Group isn't that important. At least we're free now. I'll marry you and take care of you. My family won't stop me anymore. Don't worry, I won't leave you."
Megan felt endless despair.
Looking at Michael's face, if she were healthy, if she hadn't been disfigured, if her hands could still move, she would have stood up and slapped him without hesitation.
'Who cares if you marry me? Who cares?' she wanted to scream.
But Megan's mind was still clear.
She knew that in her current state, if she left Michael, even a garbage collector wouldn't want her.
Megan had no choice. She was stuck with this fool Michael for the rest of her life.
Tears streamed down her face.
Megan cried out of sheer anger.
Michael quickly wiped her tears. "Don't cry. Don't blame yourself. This has nothing to do with you. Once you're discharged, we'll get married."
Lucas stood by, amused.
After leaving the ward, Lucas treated it as a joke and told Joseph.
Joseph immediately told Cassie, who laughed for a while and then called Laura, "Do you think Michael is stupid? Megan isn't crying out of guilt; she's crying out of anger."
Laura lazily ate an orange slice and said, "It's a pity."
"Pity what?" Cassie asked.
Laura sneered, "It's a pity that if Bernice hadn't disfigured Megan and cut her tendons, if Megan were normal, she would have slapped Michael in the face upon learning that he lost his inheritance rights. Can you guess what Megan would have said?"
Cassie laughed. "Megan would say, 'You fool, you think I care about you? I wanted to marry you to become the wife of the Jude Family's leader.'"
"So it's a pity. Now, with Megan looking like this, even if she despises Michael, she'll cling to him. Without Michael, she's doomed," Laura mocked. "Honestly, I don't want Michael to regret losing me. I just think a vicious woman like Megan doesn't deserve to be taken care of by Michael for the rest of her life."
Cassie's eyes twinkled, and she suddenly laughed and said, "There might be a way to make Michael see her true colors."
