Chapter 1697 Succeeded

Because they were all senior executives from subsidiaries and branches, and these executives were carefully selected by the board of the Jude family, everyone was quite relaxed before the meeting started.

"It's late, let's start the meeting directly."

Julia ignored everyone's gaze and opened her laptop with a stern expression.

The meeting lasted until 12:30 PM.

As Julia stood up, Aaron immediately said, "Julia, it's already noon. Let's go to the cafeteria for lunch together. Garth, join us."

"Sure," Garth said with a smile, standing up and addressing Julia, "I have some matters from Selaestan that I didn't mention during the meeting."

Julia had originally planned to go back to her office directly, but now she couldn't say anything.

In the cafeteria, Aaron booked a private room, but just as they were about to enter, he suddenly received a phone call. "Julia, my girlfriend is downstairs. She wants to go out for lunch with me, so I won't join you. You and Garth go ahead."

After saying that, he quickly left.

Garth watched Aaron's back and laughed, "Young people have energy, changing girlfriends one after another."

"If he spent more time on his work, his projects wouldn't be perpetually unfinished," Julia said, rubbing her temples with a hint of helplessness.

"The projects aren't that urgent anyway. You're always so focused on work; you should relax occasionally and maybe even date someone."

Garth took a long box out of his pocket and handed it over with a teasing tone, "I brought you a necklace from Selaestan, Julia. Please take care of me in the future."

Julia looked at the box but didn't move or say anything.

"It's not worth much, just a small gift," Garth said with a smile.

"This brand of necklace isn't cheap," Julia said, glancing at the brand on the box.

"It's not expensive for me. We've known each other for so many years; there's no need to be so formal," Garth said, pouring her a cup of tea. "Do you have time tonight? My dad said you haven't come to our house for dinner in a long time, and he misses you."

"Alright, I'll come over tonight."

Julia nodded after a moment of silence. After all, her smooth acquisition of the Jude Group was largely due to Garth's father's support. "But I really can't accept this necklace. You should give it to your girlfriend."

Garth sighed lightly, "Julia, Orval Morris has been dead for many years. You can't stay single forever. Now that the Jude family is stable, haven't you thought about your future?"

"How do you know I've been single all this time?" Julia suddenly said.

Garth was stunned, his eyes behind his glasses fixed on her face, perhaps too surprised or for some other reason, he didn't look away for a long time.

He stared at Julia for a while.

Julia calmly accepted his gaze, but the tranquility in her eyes made it impossible to read her thoughts.

After a long while, Garth forced a smile, "Don't joke with me. I know you too well. You practically live at the office."

He knew her.

"I'm serious," Julia said, picking up a fork, "It's just that the timing isn't right yet."

Garth's expression changed. "Who is it?"

He mentally went through all the eligible men in Madison but couldn't find anyone suitable for her, unless it was someone from abroad.

But given the Jude family's situation, Julia couldn't marry a foreigner.

"Julia, I admit you're very capable at work, but you have too little experience in relationships. There are too many smooth talkers in this world, especially given your status. Countless people want to climb up to you. Don't be fooled," Garth said anxiously. He had waited for her for so many years, and this was not the outcome he wanted.

"Do I look like someone who can be easily fooled?" Julia frowned, not liking to be questioned.

"I know, but—"

"Aren't you going to tell me about the Selaestan project?" Julia interrupted him.

Garth pursed his lips in frustration. He wasn't in the mood to talk about the project, but he also understood that the more anxious he was, the more it would irritate Julia.

She was never an ordinary woman.

After lunch, Julia sent a message to Elliott: [I have a social engagement tonight, so I won't be coming over to sleep.]

The social engagement was secondary; she mainly wanted to get a good rest tonight.

If he made love to her a few more times, she might not even be able to make it to the office tomorrow.

Soon, Elliott called, his tone cold, "Julia, what do you mean? You don't allow me to sleep at the Miller family home at night, but you can just not come back whenever you want. What do you take this home for, and what do you take me for? I'm warning you, if you don't come back tonight, I won't go over tomorrow either."

Julia looked troubled.

She had thought that after they got married, Elliott might not even want to touch her.

She never expected that there would come a day when she would be afraid of making love with him.

"I'm not intentionally not coming back. It's just that I'll be busy until very late tonight, and the place where I'm socializing is quite far from your place. It's too much trouble, so I plan to stay at my place tonight," Julia lied.

Elliott snorted coldly, "Fine, then. I also have a social engagement tomorrow night, and I won't be coming back to the apartment either."

He hung up the phone without another word.

Julia looked at the disconnected phone, unusually troubled.

In the end, she compromised and sent another message: [Alright, I'll come home tonight.]

Elliott glanced at the message on his phone, unable to suppress a slight smile.

The secretary who had just come in to deliver documents was shocked to see Elliott smiling like that.

He must have been seeing things. How could he see a hint of tsundere in Elliott?

The secretary placed the documents down and quickly returned to the secretary's office to share the news with his colleagues, "Oh my God, I just saw Mr. Miller smiling at his phone like this."

He even mimicked the expression.

Another female secretary was also shocked, "No way, isn't Mr. Miller always expressionless?"

"Who said he's expressionless? Mr. Miller just doesn't like to smile."

"I always thought Mr. Miller was expressionless. Even when he's angry, his face is expressionless."

"Do you think the boss is in love?"

"I haven't heard anything. Which woman is so amazing that she can make Mr. Miller smile?"

"Could it be Isadora? I heard they were going to get married."

"Come on, Isadora stayed in front of Mr. Miller for so long, and he treated her the same as he treats me, a guy."

"Who knows who it is, but I admire that person. Of course, I don't even know if Mr. Miller's significant other is a man or a woman, or even a person."

Everyone fell silent.

Could it be that Mr. Miller's significant other isn't even human?
