Chapter 1652 Even the Most Incapable One Will Fight Back
Elliott felt a surge of anger after he received Rose's call.
As he held the phone in his hand, he quickly calmed down.
Reporting this to the police would be useless. Last time, when Michael beat up Megan, he spent some time in the police station, but he was out soon after. Besides, this time he hadn't even hit Laura, let alone kidnapped her, since she was still at home.
The police would at most give Michael a verbal warning.
This matter needed to be resolved at its root.
Elliott tightened his grip and dialed a number he had kept deep in his heart, but it was temporarily unreachable.
His face darkened as he grabbed his car keys and stormed out of the office.
He drove straight to Whispering Pines Manor.
The security guard at the gate saw him and opened the door slightly. "Elliott, who are you here to see?"
"Move aside, I'm here to see Michael's parents." Elliott strode in.
"Elliott, wait, they're still having dinner," the guard chased after him.
Elliott ignored him and headed straight to the dining room.
Eric and the others, who were eating, looked up at the commotion and frowned when they saw Elliott.
"Elliott, is there something you need?" James stood up first.
"Where's Michael? Tell him to get out here," Elliott demanded coldly.
"He's in the memorial hall at the back," James turned to a servant. "Go get him."
The servant was stunned. "Michael isn't here."
James was taken aback, his expression changing slightly.
"Fine, since he's not here, I'll deal with you," Elliott said grimly. "Your son nearly ran over Laura on her way home from work and tried to kidnap her. If someone hadn't intervened, Laura would have been taken away by now. Her hand is injured because of him. I want to know how you discipline your son."
Caroline was startled. "Elliott, I'm sorry. He was upset about Laura and Derek. James punished him severely yesterday and made him kneel in the memorial hall all night."
"I even had him locked up. I don't know when he got out," James explained with a frown.
"Please, take him to see a psychiatrist," Elliott said, pointing to his head. "There's something wrong with him. I don't understand why he keeps harassing Laura after their divorce. When he married another woman, did we, the Miller family, cause him any trouble? Or do you think you can bully us because we're outsiders? Do you only care when someone dies?"
Caroline and James looked uncomfortable, being told their son had mental issues.
But they were also frustrated with Michael's behavior.
Eric said in a deep voice, "This can be resolved. If Laura breaks up with Derek, Michael will stop bothering you. I can guarantee that if he does it again, I'll break his legs myself."
Elliott laughed angrily. "Does Laura need his permission to date someone? She can't date Derek today, and does that mean she can't date anyone else tomorrow? Does my sister have to stay single for the rest of her life?"
Elliott grew more furious as he spoke.
Elliott exploded with rage. "Yes, the Miller family may be insignificant, but that doesn't mean we're afraid of the Jude family. Michael may be your treasure, but Laura is ours. When Michael betrayed their marriage and sent Laura to the hospital, I wanted to confront the Jude family. I held back for Maeve's sake, but the Jude family has gone too far.
"Let me make this clear: Laura has done nothing wrong to Michael. The Miller family has always been upright. If you don't control your son, we'll make a big scene. The Miller family may not be your match, but we can ruin your reputation. If we can't stay in Whisperlyn City, we'll go back to Silverwood."
After his outburst, Elliott walked to the door and turned back. "And another thing, who Laura dates is her business. Whether she breaks up or stays together with Derek, no one has the right to interfere. You have no say in it anymore. If you have so much time to pressure her, why not pressure Derek?"
As he left, Elliott slammed the door hard.
Eric slammed the table in anger. "How dare anyone come to the Jude family and cause trouble? The Miller family thinks they can ruin our reputation? Ridiculous."
"Dad, calm down. Let's find Michael first," Caroline urged, not wanting the situation to escalate further. Even the most incapable person will fight back when pushed too far.
"Go find Michael. I'm so angry I can't even eat," Eric said, throwing down his fork.
As Elliott left Whispering Pines Manor, his phone rang.
It was the number he had called earlier, which had been unreachable.
He looked at it for a moment before expressionlessly pressing the hang-up button.
At the airport
Julia looked at the disconnected call, her delicate eyebrows furrowing.
"Ms. Jude, the car is waiting for you at the airport entrance," her secretary reminded her.
"Okay." Julia nodded.
Just as she got into the car, Derek called. "Julia, this afternoon Michael went to trouble Laura. Luckily, I had someone protecting her, or he might have used violence to take her away."
Derek's voice was filled with anger. "He's gone mad. I won't let him roam free anymore. He either leaves the country, or I'll have to use force to send him away."
"No wonder." Julia suddenly understood, her beautiful eyes a bit distracted.
"No wonder what?"
"Elliott tried to contact me earlier, but I was on the plane," Julia explained.
"He was probably looking for you about Michael. I heard he went to the Jude family and had an unpleasant confrontation with Grandpa and the others," Derek said irritably. "Find Michael and control him quickly. I'm afraid he'll team up with my dad's competitors."
"That's impossible, right?" Julia was shocked. If Michael did that, it would drag the entire Jude family down.
Michael was, after all, her younger brother whom she had grown up with. She couldn't believe he would become so malicious.
"I don't want to suspect him either," Derek said, pressing his lips together. "But he's completely different now. From yesterday to today, he's repeatedly crossed my bottom line. Leaving him out there is like having a ticking time bomb. Have you considered that if he disrupts the entire Jude family, it could be his chance to restart his career?"
