""You..."" Sarah trembled with anger.
""We've been best friends for seven or eight years, and we've taken countless photos. Don't force me to bring them out as evidence."" Cassie calmly swept her gaze across the people in the banquet hall and finally looked at the Robert couple.
""There's no need to check the surveillance. The Brooks family won't give anyone a chance to investigate anyway. I don't want to stay here anymore. To be honest, everyone here is acting like drama queens, and it disgusts me.""
After throwing the microphone aside, she gracefully jumped off the table and walked out of the banquet hall under the gaze of everyone.
Both families in the banquet hall felt embarrassed.
Master Lewis stood up and smiled. ""Let's start serving the food now. Arthur, go upstairs and change into a new outfit. Let's take a break. I can see that they're tired,"" he said.
He threw a stern glare at Arthur, who clenched his teeth and exited the stage from behind.
Cassie was anxiously waiting for the elevator in the lobby. She needed to leave quickly and was relying on the crowd from earlier to prevent the two families from harming her in any way. But now, she felt vulnerable and feared that they might come after her.
Unfortunately, the elevator on the thirtieth floor seemed to be taking forever to arrive.
""Cassie, stop right there!"" Arthur's angry voice came from behind.
She turned around and saw his handsome face contorted with rage. It was the first time she had seen Arthur lose his temper with her. She wouldn't put it past him to lay hands on her.
Just as she was feeling uneasy, a tall figure swiftly stood in front of her - it was David.
""Arthur, what do you think you're doing?""
""Uncle, I should be asking you that question. This is between me and her. Please step aside.""
Uncle?
Cassie was dumbfounded. What did she hear?
Did Arthur call David ""uncle""?
Her head couldn't process it. If he was David's nephew, then who was Joseph?
David furrowed his brow and warned, ""That's enough! Today is your engagement banquet. Go back upstairs.""
""She ruined my engagement banquet!"" Arthur's eyes turned red with anger. ""All these years of hard work and reputation have been destroyed today. Didn't you see the way my father looked at me just now?""
""Did she destroy the engagement? All I saw was each and every one of you pressuring her,"" David expressed his disappointment. ""Arthur, you can strive to gain control of the Lewis Group, but you shouldn't abandon your principles. Even a rabbit will bite when it's cornered. Your actions today show that you have completely disregarded Cassie's boundaries!""
Cassie's heart skipped a beat. She never expected this man to understand her so well.
Arthur was taken aback. ""Uncle, you've helped her several times today. Why do you always side with her? You're not...?""
Cassie also looked at David in confusion.
David interrupted Arthur and said, ""I've interacted with her a few times, and from what I've come to know about her, she is a good girl. If she's willing to let me pursue her, she might become your aunt.""
Aunt?
Cassie was going insane!
Arthur couldn't believe it either. How could his ex-girlfriend become his aunt? Who could accept that? "
