Chapter 1674 Just Try Being Unhappy, I Dare You!
Laura gently pushed Derek away, looking at his handsome face helplessly. She couldn't understand how Derek had become so shameless.
"Do you have any shame?"
"What does dignity matter compared to having a girlfriend? I'll just tell your mom I'm sleeping in the guest room, and then I'll sneak into your room in the middle of the night."
Laura was scared; one such experience was already deeply ingrained in her memory, and she didn't want to go through it again.
"Alright, stop talking about it. I'll stay with you tonight."
"Good girl."
Derek kissed her forehead, his handsome face beaming with a triumphant smile.
Laura tilted her head and noticed that he seemed much more relaxed than before.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Derek's gaze fell on her slightly swollen lips, and he felt a surge of desire.
"You got a haircut." Laura touched his clean and neat short hair unceremoniously and said with a smile, "You're even dressing younger, like a young man. I almost didn't recognize you; you don't look like yourself."
"Then what do you think I should look like?"
"Every time I saw you before, you dressed very conservatively."
Derek raised an eyebrow. "So, do you like the old me or the current me?"
"I like both," Laura admitted openly.
Derek's lips curved into a smile, and he hugged her and kissed her twice. "I used to work in a government department, so I had to dress maturely. If I dressed too young, people wouldn't take me seriously. Now that I've resigned, I don't have to worry about that. I dress for comfort. After all, I'm only twenty-six; I can't look too old. If you get tired of my looks and start to dislike me, that would be a problem."
"You look good like this too." Laura hooked her arms around his neck. "Dressing maturely has a stable charm, and you look very handsome now too."
"Thank you."
After some affectionate moments, Derek drove to a nearby mall.
Last time, Laura had planned to buy shoes, but Michael had caused a scene, and she didn't get to buy them. She hadn't gone shopping since.
Now, she finally had the chance again.
Derek took her shopping.
They didn't go shopping often, especially after they officially started dating, and rarely went to crowded places.
This time, Derek held her hand openly, just like any ordinary couple in the mall, their fingers tightly interlocked.
As they passed a beverage shop, a child came out holding a colorful ice cream cone.
Laura glanced at it and wanted one too.
"If you like it, buy it." Derek said.
"But I'm afraid of gaining weight." Laura said wistfully. "And ice cream isn't good for a woman's stomach."
Derek blinked. "Then don't eat it. How about something else?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Laura glared at him. "But I want to eat it. Are you saying you think I'll get fat?"
Derek finally understood how capricious women could be.
"No, it's just that you said it's not good for your health. How about this: you eat a little, and I'll finish the rest?"
He said this while cautiously glancing at Laura, afraid his answer might upset her again.
"Alright, go buy it then." Laura let go of his hand. "I'll wait over there."
Looking at the line, Derek reluctantly went to queue up.
"You're also buying ice cream for your girlfriend?" A young man in his early twenties behind him started chatting. "Women are such a hassle, always craving sweet stuff."
"No choice," Derek replied indifferently.
"But your girlfriend is really pretty." The young man said with a smile.
"She's so pretty, it's a pity she's not a celebrity. She looks familiar; she isn't a celebrity, is she?" The young man suddenly became curious.
"How could that be?" Derek feigned surprise. "Celebrities would definitely wear masks."
"True."
Laura had no idea that many young men in the beverage shop were secretly eyeing her.
She sat in a chair, leisurely playing with her phone.
At that moment, she truly appreciated having a boyfriend.
If she wanted ice cream, she'd have to stand in line herself.
"Hi, can I add you on Facebook?" Suddenly, a tall young man stood in front of her, looking at her with a hint of shyness.
She was a bit confused; it had been a long time since someone had approached her.
"Sorry, she has a boyfriend." Derek said, coming over with an ice cream and gently reminding the young man.
The young man's face turned red. "Sorry, I thought..."
He quickly walked away, feeling embarrassed.
"Laura, you're quite the charmer." Derek said with a half-smile, handing her the ice cream.
"Of course, I'm so pretty." Laura said with a smile, taking the ice cream. "Are you jealous?"
"A little, but I wouldn't dare be too jealous. I don't want to upset you," Derek said, pretending to be cautious.
Laura laughed. "Don't worry, I won't leave you. I'm not the type to start something and not finish it."
"Yes, yes, thank you." Derek smiled warmly.
That look made Laura really want to kiss him.
They said handsome men were tempting, and Derek was just that.
He wasn't cold; he was always gentle. Even when he was jealous, he was more and more likable.
How could there be a man with such a good personality?
She suddenly couldn't understand why Cassie liked someone as cold as Joseph.
"Since you're so mature and generous, I'll let you have a bite of my ice cream." Laura said, handing the ice cream to him.
Derek bent down and took a bite. "I never realized ice cream could be so good. It must be because I'm eating it with my girlfriend."
"Did you ever eat ice cream with your ex-girlfriend?" Laura suddenly asked. "No lying."
"No."
At this moment, even if he had, he couldn't admit it.
After answering, Derek asked, "You have more relationship experience than I do. Have you ever done it?"
Laura was silent.
Why did she ask?
"I have. Do you mind?" She glared at him, her eyes threatening: Dare to be unhappy?
"No, no," Derek quickly shook his head. "So what if you have? I'm the one who's going to eat ice cream with you for the rest of my life. Those exes of yours mean nothing."
Look at Derek, being so honest.
Laura laughed, stood on tiptoe, and kissed him on the cheek. "Smart move."
