Chapter 1164 Marcus Was Trapped

At the Chamberlain Group, a high-level meeting was underway. Marcus sat indifferently in the top leather chair when an employee from the technical department burst in, "Something's wrong, Mr. Chamberlain."

"You idiot! We're in a meeting. Why the commotion?" Felix snapped, slapping the table.

"Mr. Chamberlain, the Hernandez Group just held a press conference."

"I knew it. They want to compete with us in electrical appliances. They're overestimating themselves," Felix sneered. "No matter what they do, they can't surpass us. Plus, we've already released our latest product data, so no one will collaborate with them."

"That's not it, Mr. Chamberlain." The employee handed over a chart. "This is the Hernandez Group's latest transformer and X-ray machine. Their data surpasses ours."

"What did you say?" Marcus stood up abruptly, his face turning cold. "Let me see."

The employee handed over the datasheet.

After looking it over, Marcus's face turned grim.

"Mr. Chamberlain, what's going on?" The executives grew tense. "Didn't you say the Garrison Group's technology was the best? Why is our data now inferior?"

"What's worse is we've already invested $200 billion into this."

"The Hernandez Group's products are better and cheaper. Who would buy ours now?"

"Plus, they're launching globally in three days, while we need a month."

"Who proposed entering this field? Who decided to collaborate with the Garrison Group? Were we set up?"

Felix's face turned pale. "Marcus, this is impossible. The Garrison Group assured us their technology was the best. I investigated it. No company has this technology."

"Shut up." Marcus hurled a cup at him.

The cup hit Felix's forehead, and blood started flowing.

The room fell silent. It was the first time everyone had seen Marcus so furious.

"Marcus." Larry grabbed tissues to cover Felix's head.

"$200 billion," Marcus sneered. "We've thrown all our chip earnings into this."

Felix's lips trembled.

"Mr. Chamberlain." The door opened again, and his assistant rushed in. "Everlake Reservoir Dam is developing the largest hydroelectric power station in Madison. They've contacted the Hernandez Group for collaboration."

"What?" The executives were shocked. "We already had a verbal agreement with Everlake Reservoir Dam. We could've earned at least $40 billion."

The assistant gave a wry smile. "Not only that, but many hospitals are booking the Hernandez Group's X-ray machines because they're more cost-effective. After on-site trials, the results were excellent. Just now, the Hernandez Group's stock hit the upper limit, showing market optimism."

"Plagiarism! It's outright plagiarism of our work!" Felix slammed the table. "The Garrison Group must be playing us. They gave better tech to the Hernandez family. I'm going to confront them."

Marcus didn't stop him.

The meeting room was chaotic for a while. Finally, Marcus stood up and said, "Meeting adjourned."

Back in his office, Marcus punched the computer screen, shattering it.

"Oh my, honey, what's wrong?" Penelope Patterson, all dolled up, was startled. "Who made you so angry? Let's go out for dinner, okay?"

"Get out." Marcus shoved her away. Penelope, in high heels, fell and started crying.

"If you want to cry, do it outside. I don't have the patience for this," Marcus yelled.

Penelope was stunned; she rarely saw Marcus so enraged.

"You should leave," Larry said, walking in.

Penelope fled immediately.

Seeing her like that, Marcus felt disgusted. When in control, he needed a gentle woman like Penelope. In crisis, she was useless.

"The situation is dire," Larry said, frowning. "Mabel and Joseph have been quiet, making us think the Hernandez Group was struggling. They were holding back a big move. We underestimated them."

"It's not just the Hernandez Group; it's also the Garrison Group," Marcus said, clenching his fist. "We've been tricked. The Garrison Group gave us top-notch tech, and the Hernandez Group got it first. Joseph must have made a deal with them long ago."

Larry was taken aback. "Why? The Chamberlain Group is stronger. What does the Garrison Group gain from this? And wouldn't they ruin their reputation?"

"I don't get it either, but since they did this, do you think they'd leave us any leverage? They must have prepared thoroughly. The Chamberlain Group has been deceived," Marcus grew angrier, punching the wall. "With Joseph's capabilities, seizing this opportunity is easy."

"Indeed, I should have eradicated them back then," Larry said, regretful.

"You think I didn't consider that? Joseph survived several attempts." Marcus turned to Larry. "Notify David. If the Chamberlain family falls, he won't fare any better. The only solution now is to make Joseph disappear completely."

"Marcus, David won't take orders from us," Larry hesitated. "When David faced obstacles, he asked for our help several times, but we refused."

The Chamberlain family had looked down on David before, but no one could have predicted this crisis.

"Then," Marcus narrowed his eyes, "make Mabel's fate worse than death."

Larry shivered. "Should we mobilize the people from Neya City?"

"We've spent so much money; it's time to use it. Mobilize them all," Marcus ordered with a sinister look.

The assassins from Neya City were notoriously ruthless. When fully mobilized, no one could withstand them.
