Chapter 1609 It Hurts So Much
The police were all stunned.
As employees of the Whisperlyn City Police Department, they had all paid special attention to the members of the Jude family on TV or on their phones.
Michael, who used to be so handsome in photos, had a charm and presence that outshone young male celebrities in the entertainment industry.
Who would believe that the violent Michael in front of them was once the brightest heir of the Jude family?
It was truly terrifying.
"Help me." Megan desperately crawled to the police, tightly grabbing the officer's pant leg before finally passing out.
The police snapped out of it, calling for an ambulance while putting Michael into the police car.
This was Michael's second time at the police station today.
But Michael was well-prepared. After getting in the car, he called his lawyer and arranged for compensation.
When they arrived at the station, Delbert saw Michael again and was deeply troubled.
Michael seemed indifferent, sitting silently in the monitoring room.
Michael's mind was filled with the scene of him violently beating Megan in the villa.
He was not a violent man.
Except for the time he mistakenly thought Laura had kidnapped Megan and kicked Laura hard.
Since then, he had never hit any woman.
But today, he seemed to have gone mad.
Maybe he had been suppressing too much lately.
And as he punched down, the image of Megan kneeling on the ground, begging him for mercy, even kowtowing to him, tore apart all the beautiful memories he had of his first love.
His once cherished first love was all an act by Megan.
Megan was greedy, cowardly, and spineless.
Later, when begging didn't work, Megan started cursing, calling Michael useless, stupid, and saying he deserved it.
"Michael, who told you to be so stupid? You believe everything I say. Even if I didn't deceive you, someone else would. There are plenty of scheming women in this world, not just me.
"Don't act like you really like Laura. If you liked her so much, why was I able to seduce you so easily?
"That night, I just tempted you a little, and you slept with me. I didn't force you.
"Even though I cheated on you, it's not my fault. You're so useless that you can't even satisfy my basic needs. If I don't find a man outside, should I rely on my hand for the rest of my life?"
"Go ahead, beat me to death. You'll never have a good life. Laura should thank me. I helped her escape from a devil like you."
"Stop, please stop. Michael, I'm begging you, let me go. I'm dying, it hurts so much.
"I can't take it anymore, I'm really going to die. Let me go, I won't dare again. Michael, I'm kneeling to you, I'm kowtowing to you."
Those voices echoed over and over in Michael's head like a devil's whisper.
Michael's eyes finally reddened, and tears slowly flowed down his cheeks.
Evening
After a busy day at work, Laura had just stepped into the restaurant of the Presidential Palace when she heard Carl's angry voice.
"I told you all to keep an eye on Michael. Now look, Michael has caused me so much trouble. Does Michael think the Jude family hasn't suffered enough humiliation in Whisperlyn City?
"Michael is in his thirties, and he got played by Megan. If I were him, I'd rather be dead. If you can't handle Megan, let me do it."
Laura glanced at Carl, who was on the phone, his face extremely angry.
The last time Carl was this angry was when rumors about Derek and another man surfaced.
She then looked at Derek, who surprisingly wasn't working late and had come home for dinner.
She nervously moved over, found a chair to sit on, and mouthed to Derek, "Who made your dad angry?"
Derek's handsome brow furrowed in surprise, "You don't know?"
Just then, Carl hung up the phone, slamming it onto the dining table in anger, "That bastard Michael has ruined my appetite."
"Honestly, this is good. Michael finally sees the truth," Violet said calmly. "Anyone with common sense could see it, but Michael couldn't. He won't learn until he see it himself."
Megan.
Laura's eyes flashed, remembering that Cassie had mentioned starting the plan a few days ago. Could this be it?
Her curiosity piqued, she couldn't help but tug at Derek's sleeve under the table.
Derek sighed, "I thought you knew."
"I've been in the lab all day."
Derek glanced at his parents, and Violet's eyes showed a hint of concern, "Laura, are you sure you want to know? I'm afraid it will upset you."
"If it's about Megan and Michael, I've already come to terms with it," Laura said seriously. "Now I just see their matters as a joke."
"Mom, it's fine. Laura will find out sooner or later." Derek sighed, "Michael and Megan successfully divorced this morning. But right after the divorce, Michael discovered that Megan had been cheating on him during their marriage. For the past two months, Megan had been secretly seeing Landon from Cascade Dynamics Group. Today, Michael caught Megan and Landon in bed at a hotel. The three of them fought, and reporters got wind of it."
Laura was stunned.
She knew that Landon was arranged by Cassie.
But she didn't know about the follow-up, even involving reporters.
That scene must have been quite spectacular.
How did she miss it?
"Anyway, Michael and the reporters were taken away by the police. Later, James got him out, and he went back to the villa and beat Megan up. Megan was knocked out and sent to the hospital. Luckily, my dad managed to suppress the situation in time, or the consequences would have been severe." Derek's expression was very serious as he spoke.
"Beat her up?" Laura gasped, "Megan was his treasure, and he actually beat her up?"
Derek pressed his thin lips together.
Violet said helplessly, "When they were discussing the divorce, Michael borrowed fifty million dollars from James, saying Megan agreed to divorce for eighty million dollars. But Michael lied to James. He actually gave Megan one hundred million dollars for the divorce, along with villas and mansions in Whisperlyn City and Austin. Michael wanted her to pay, but Megan refused."
